Օգոստոսի 24-ին թուրքական բանակը կոալիցիայի ավիացիայի և սիրիական ընդդիմության աջակցությամբ սկսել է ԻԼԻՊ -ի գրոհայիններից սիրիական Ջարաբլուս քաղաքի ազատագրման գործողությունը: Սիրիայի իշխանությունները Թուրքիայի գործողություններն անվանել են ինքնիշխանության խախտում:

Մեկնարկած ռազմական գործողություններն ստացան «Եփրատի վահան» անվանումը, որը պատասխանն էր ԻԼԻՊ -ի զինյալների` Թուրքիայի Գազիանտեպ նահանգի Կարկամըշ սահմանամերձ շրջանի գնդակոծմանը: Հաջորդ օրը թուրքական տանկերի ու շինարարական մեքենաների երկրորդ խմբաքանակը մուտք գործեց Սիրիայի հյուսիս: Թուրքիայի պաշտպանության նախարարը հայտարարությամբ հանդես եկավ՝ նշելով, որ թուրքական զորքերը դեռ երկար են պատրաստվում մնալ այնտեղ:

Անկարայում կարծում են, որ Ջարաբլուսի ազատագրումը կօգնի թուրքական սահմանները մաքրել ահաբեկչական խմբավորումներից և նպաստել Սիրիայի տարածքային ամբողջականությանը:

Թուրքիայի նախագահ Էրդողանը մեկնաբանելով «Եփրատի վահան» գործողությունները նշել է, որ իր երկրի համբերությունը հատել է, և որ Թուրքիան նպատակ ունի վերացնել Սիրիայի հյուսիսում իր քաղաքացիներին սպառնացող վտանգները:

Թուրքական ԶԼՄ-ները գրում են, որ Սիրիայում հատուկ գործողություններ սկսելուց առաջ Թուրքիան այդ մասին տեղյակ է պահել ՌԴ-ի, ԱՄՆ-ի և Իրանի իշխանություններին:

Սակայն, ՌԴ ԱԳՆ-ն, իր անհանգստությունն է հայտնել Սիրիայի տարածքում Թուրքիայի ԶՈւ-ի գործողությունների վերաբերյալ ու նշել, որ հակամարտությունը կարող է միայն կարգավորվել լայն միջսիրիական երկխոսության միջոցով՝ այդ գործընթացում ներառելով նաև քրդերին։

Իրանի ԱԳՆ-ի խոսնակ Բեհրամ Քասըմին հայտարարել է, որ Թուրքիան այդ գործողությունը պետք է համակարգի Դամասկոսի ղեկավարության հետ:

Այդ օրերին Անկարա պաշտոնական այց կատարած ԱՄՆ-ի փոխնախագահ Ջո Բայդենը հայտարարել է, որ ԱՄՆ-ն անվերապահորեն աջակցում է Սիրիայի հյուսիսում Թուրքիայի ձեռնարկած ռազմական գործողությանը, ապա նշել, որ իրենք Թուրքիայի հետ աշխատելու են համատեղ, քանի որ ցանկանում են այնտեղից դուրս բերել ահաբեկչական խմբերին:

ՄԱԿ-ը հայտարարել է, որ ուշադիր հետևում է ԻԼԻՊ -ի դեմ Թուրքիայի սկսած ցամաքային գործողությանը և Անկարային ու մյուս երկրներին կոչ արել հարգել միջազգային նորմերը, ինչպես նաև ապահովել խաղաղ բնակիչների անվտանգությունը։

Սիրիայի ԱԳՆ-ն դատապարտել է Թուրքիայի գործողությունները սիրիական Ջարաբլոսում՝ դրանք որակելով որպես ագրեսիվ գործողություններ երկրի ինքնիշխանության նկատմամբ և կոչ արել ՄԱԿ-ին՝ միջոցներ ձեռնարկել թուրքական ագրեսիան դադարեցնելու համար:

Այսպիսով, Թուրքիայի իշխանությունները՝ ի դեմս նախագահ Էրդողանի, հակաահաբեկչական գործողությունների շնորհիվ փորձում են միաժամանակ երկու հարց կարգավորել՝ միջազգային հանրության ուշադրությունը շեղել Թուրքիայում ռազմական հեղաշրջումից հետո սկսված լայնամասշտաբ ձերբակալություններից և միջազգային ասպարեզում բարձարացնել իրենց վարկանիշը:
