Մարկ Դուգլասը՝ Սթիլհաուս մարքեթինգային ընկերության գործադիր տնօրենը, հանդիպել է այս խնդրին: Երբ նա իր աշխատողներին հայտարերլ է արձակուրդի մասին, վերջիններիցս շատերը չեն է իմացել, թե տվյալ պահին ինչպես արձագանքնե նորությանը:

Այնուհետև Մարկի գլխում մի միտք ծագեց: Ինչու՞ չվճարել աշխատողներին՝ իրենց ցանկացած վայրում արձակուրդի գնալու համար: Իսկապես, Մարկը որոշեց $2,000 հավելյալ գումար փոխանցել աշխատողների հաշվին պայմանով, որ այն պետք է ծախսվի միայն ու միայն նրանց ազատ ժամանակի և արձակուրդի ընթացքում:

 

 

Այլ կերպ ասած՝ եթե աշխատում ես Մարկի ընկերությունում, ապա տարին մեկ անգամ կարող ես լիարժեք հանգստանալու գնալ այնտեղ, որտեղ սիրտդ կկամենա: Շատ աշխատողներ գտնվեցին, որոնք առաջարկում էին Մարկին իրենց փոխանցելբոնուսային գումարը, բայց այն պայմանով, որ չէին ծախսելու արձակուրդի ժամանակ: Սակայն Մարկը կտրուկ մերժեց այս առաջարկները, ասելով. «Ես իրականում շատ եմ ուզում, որպեսզի բոլորդ ինչ-որ տեղ գնաք և լավ ժամանակ անցկացնեք»:

Արդյունքները գոհացուցիչ էին: Վերջին երեք տարիների ընթացքում ընկերության 250 աշխատակիցներից միայն հինգն են լքել այն, սակայն դրա պատճառն ընդհանրապես կապ չի ունեցել աշխատանքի հետ: Իրենց բոնուսային հանգստից հետո Մարկի աշխատողները վերադառնում էին մեծ էներգիայով և ավելի արդյունավետ էին աշխատում տարվա ընթացքում:

 

 

Մարկը կարծում է, որ մյուս ընկերություններն էլ պիտի հետևեն իր օրինակին: Նա հավատացած է, որ առաջին բանը, որ ընկերությունների և ձեռնարկությունների տնօրենները պետք է անեն, դա ընդունելն է, որ այս եղանակն իսկապես աշխատում է և սա խելագարական ինչ-որ պլան չէ, որը կխանգարի իրենց հաջողությանը:

«Մի բան է կանգել և աշխատողներիդ ասել՝ դուք երեք շաբաթվ արձակուրդ եք գնում, մեկ այլ բան՝ ձեր արձակուրդի համար ես ձեզ տրամադրում եմ հավելյալ գումար, որը համապատասխան նպատակով չօգտագործոլու դեպքում ուղղակի անիմաստ կվատնվի: Սա շատ էֆեկտիվ եղանակ է աշխատողներիդ հասկացնելու, որ հանգստանալը իրոք կարևոր նշանակություն ունի»:
