Հայաստանի ներքաղաքական դաշտն իր որոշ գծերով քաղաքագիտական օրինաչափության շրջանակներից կարծես թե դուրս է գալիս (կամ տեսական նոր դիտարկումների ու մոտեցումների առիթ է տալիս): Այն ժամանակ ԲՀԿ-ն իրեն հռչակեց այլընտրանք, ինչը քաղաքական փորձագետների համար փոքր ինչ տարօրինակ ու ոչ սովորական կարգավիճակ էր: Ենթադրվում էր, որ «Բարգավաճ Հայաստանը» ինչ որ մի պահի կդառնա կամ ընդիմություն, կամ իշխանություն: Իսկ հաշվի առնելով, թե ինչ շերտի շահեր է ներկայացնում կուսակցությունը, կամ ինչ շերտեր են կազմում ԲՀԿ-ի կորիզը, պետք էր ենթադրել, որ իրավիճակային փոփոխությունների արդյունքում ԲՀԿ-ն կհայտնվի իշխանական ճամբարում:

Սակայն, ամենայն հավանականությամբ իշխանական ընտրազանգվածի սուղ լինելու պատճառով և միևնույն ժամանակ հասարակության լայն շերտերի մոտ վստահություն ձեռք բերելու նպատակով ԲՀԿ-ն որոշեց քաղաքական համակարգում զբաղեցնել ընդդիմությանը հարող ինչ-որ տեղ, միևնույն ժամանակ, չհրաժարվելով այլընտրանքի իր ֆորմալ կարգավիճակից, որը պարբերաբար դժվարին իրավիճակներում նրան մանևրելու հնարավորություններ էր ընձեռու:

Ժամանակի ընթացքում սոցիալական, հասարակական խնդիրների սրման ու ժողովրդի մոտ դժգոհությունների աճի հետևանքով արմատական ընդդիմությունը սկսեց հանդես գալ ավելի սուր հռետորաբանությամբ: Իսկ ԲՀԿ-ն, որպես մի շարք հարցերում ընդդիմության հետ համախոհ ուժ, հայտարարությունների մակարդակում դե ֆակտո ներքաշվեց ընդդիմադիր դաշտ: Սա կարելի էր անխուսափելի համարել, քանի որ իրավիճակի շիկացման պարագայում ԲՀԿ-ի այլընտրանքի կարգավիճակն այլևս չի կարող իրեն արդարացնել:

Այսպիսով, ԲՀԿ-ն ակամայից ներքաշվեց իշխանափոխություն պահանջողների ճամբար` հանուն իր վարկանիշի պահպանման ու ներքաղաքական դաշտում երկրորդ ազդեցիկ ուժը մնալու: Դրանով ԲՀԿ-ն շարժմանն ավելի մեծ թափ է հաղորդում` մեծացնելով նաև իր կողմից ավելի արմատական վարքագիծ դրսևորելու ուղղությամբ դժգոհ զանգվածի ակնկալիքները:
