Թուրքիայի «Ազգայնական շարժում» կուսակցության առաջնորդ Դևլեթ Բահչելին հայտարարել է երկրում մահապատժի վերականգնմանը կողմ լինելու մասին: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին տեղեկացնում է թուրքական «Հուրիեթ» պարբերականը:

Կուսակցության խորհրդարանական խմբակցության առջև ելույթի ժամանակ Բահչելին նշել է, որ մահապատժի հարցում իր կուսակցության դիրքորոշումը վաղուց հստակ է: Բահչելին հիշեցրել է, թե ինչպես էին իրենք ժամանակին պայքարում քրդերի առաջնորդ Աբդուլլահ Օջալանին կախաղան բարձրացնելու համար, ինչը, սակայն, տեղի չունեցավ:

«Մեր դիրքորոշումը նույնն է մնացել, եթե կա մահապատժի անհրաժեշտություն, եթե մեր ժողովուրդը դա ցանկանում է, ապա այդ դեպքում այլևս չկա պատրվակների, ավելորդ խոսակցությունների անհրաժեշտություն: Եթե «Արդարություն և զարգացում» կուսակցությունը (խմբ. -իշխող կուսակցություն) պատրաստ է, ապա «Ազգայնական շարժում» կուսակցությունը վաղուց է պատրաստ: Վարչապետին ասում եմ, որ եկեք այդ գործը վերջացնենք, վերացնենք մեր ժողովրդի և երկրի դեմ թշնամություն անողներին»,- ասել է Բահչելին: Նա հայտարարել է, որ եթե մեջլիս գա օրինագիծ կամ առա ջարկ, որը մահապատիժ կնախատեսի ահաբեկչության, պատերազմական կամ դրա նման այլ հանցագործությունների համար, ապա «Ազգայնական շարժում» կուսակցությունը, «ընդառաջելով թուրք ժողովրդի պահանջներին ու սպասելիքներին, կանի անհրաժեշտ քայլը»:

Խոսելով մահապատժի վերաբերյալ ԵՄ ներկայացուցիչների բացասական կողմնորոշման մասին` Բահչելին ասել է. «Մահապատժին դեմ արտահայտվող, արդեն նախազգուշանող հայտարարություններ անող ԵՄ հանձնակատարները թող իրենց գործերին նայեն, մեզ համար միակ հեղինակությունը, ում խոսքը լսելի է, թուրք ժողովուրդն է: Թուրքիան կառավարվում է ոչ թե Բրյուսելից, այլ Անկարայից` մեջլիսից: Դրանից բացի ոչ մի ուժ չենք ճանաչում»:
