Мельбурнский Кубок — центральное событие на ипподроме Флемингтон в пригороде Мельбурна, Австралия.

История Melbourne Cup началась в 1861 году, когда переселенцы-колонисты из Англии попытались внедрить на чужом континенте свой любимый вид спорта, организовав тут двухмильные скачки с призовым фондом в 170 фунтов стерлингов.

Уже не первый год Меельбурнский кубок остается одним из самых ярких событий в жизни Австралии. Согласно английским традициям, это мероприятие славилось строгим дресс-кодом. Дамы обычно одевались на ипподром в длинные черные платья. Правда, с тех пор много воды утекло... Предлагаем тебе самому сравнить. Ощущаешь разницу?
