2016 նոյեմբերի 19-20-ին՝ Պերույի մայրաքաղաք Լիմայում, կայացավ Ասիա-խաղաղօվկիանոսյան տնտեսական համագործակցության (ԱԽՏՀ) երկրների առաջնորդների գագաթաժողովը:

Ասիա-խաղաղօվկիանոսյան տնտեսական համագործակցությունը միջազգային ֆորում է, որը միավորում է 21 առաջատար տնտեսություն ունեցող պետություններին, որոնք համագործակցություն են իրականացնում տարածաշրջանում առևտրի և տնտեսական զարգացմանը նպաստելու համար:  ԱԽՏՀ-ի հիմնական նպատակը մինչ 2020թ-ն ազատ և բաց առևտրի համակարգ ստեղծելն է:  

ԱԽՏՀ երկրների առաջնորդները գագաթաժողովի շրջանակներում հանդես են եկել հայտարարություններով: Նոր Զելանդիայի վարչապետ Ջոն Կին հայտնել է, որ մոտենում է ՌԴ-ի հետ Ազատ առևտրի գոտի ստեղծելու շուրջ բանակցությունները վերսկսելու ժամանակը:

Չինաստանի ներկայացուցիչ Սի Ցզինպինը գագաթաժողովի ընթացքում կոչ է  արել Ասիա-խաղաղօվկիանոսյան տարածաշրջանում Ազատ առևտրի գոտի ստեղծել:Վերջինս նաև հայտնել է, որ Չինաստանն ու Ռուսաստանը պետք է  նպաստեն Ասիա-խաղաղօվկիանոսյան տարածաշրջանում Ազատ առևտրի գոտու ստեղծման գործընթացին:

Սինգապուրի վարչապետ Լի Սյան Լունը հայտնել է, որ համագործակցության անդամները պետք է առաջ շարժվեն ու կասկածի տակ չառնեն Ազատ առևտրի գոտու ստեղծման ու տնտեսական փոխգործակցության ընդլայնման նպատակահարմարությունը:

Ճապոնիայի վարչապետ Սինձո Աբեն հայտնել է, որ Տրանս-խաղաղօվկիանոսյան գործընկերության ստեղծման գաղափարը «վերջնականապես կմեռնի», եթե գործընկերության անդամ-պետությունները կանգնեցնեն ազգային խորհրդարաններում համապատասխան համաձայանգրերի վավերացումը, իսկ գործընթացը կարող է կանգ առնել ԱՄՆ նորանշանակ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի դիրքորոշման պատճառով:

Ավստրալիայի վարչապետ Մալկոլմ Թերնբուլը հույս է հայտնել, որ ԱՄՆ նորանշանակ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը կփոխի իր բացասական տրամադրվածությունը Տրանս-խաղաղօվկիանոսյան գործընկերության համաձայնության վերաբերյալ:

Ուշադրության է արժանի նաև Ասիա-խաղաղօվկիանոսյան տնտեսական համագործակցության երկրների առաջնորդների գագաթաժողովի ամփոփիչ մամլո-ասուլիսը, որի ընթացքում ՌԴ նախագահն անդրադառնալով ԱՄՆ նախագահական ընտրություններին հայտնել է, որ բոլորի համար հասկանալի է, որ նախընտրական հռետորաբանության և իրականության միջև մեծ տարբերություն կա: Իսկ ԱՄՆ նախագահը փորձել է պատկերավոր օրինակով ցույց տալ ՌԴ-ի և ԱՄՆ-ի տարբերությունը: Վերջինս հայտնել է, որ ՌԴ-ն շատ լուրջ ռազմական տերություն է, սակայն չի օգնում Հայիթիին վերականգնվել փոթորիկից, իսկ ԱՄՆ-ն դա անում է:

Գագաթաժողովի վերջում ԱԽՏՀ-ի առաջնորդները ամփոփող Հռչակագիր են ընդունել, որում նշվում է, որ համաշխարհային տնտեսությունը վերջին 8 տարվա ընթացքում դանդաղորեն վերականգնվում է, սակայն գնալով բախվում է ավելի լուրջ մարտահրավերների:

Առաջնորդները նաև ընդունել են մինչ 2025թ-ն ծառայությունների մրցողունակության ապահովման Ճանապարհային քարտեզը:  Պերուից հետո ԱԽՏՀ նախագահությունը կանցնի Վիետնամին:
