NEWS.am Sport-ն առանձնացրել է 2016 թվականի գլխավոր մարզական իրադարձությունները:

1. 20 տարի անց Հայաստանը դարձյալ ունեցավ օլիմպիական չեմպիոն. Արթուր Ալեքսանյանի ոսկե հաղթանակը Ռիո-2016-ում:

2. Միհրան Հարությունյանը՝ Ռիոյի Օլիմպիական խաղերի փոխչեմպիոն:

3. 19-ամյա Սիմոն Մարտիրոսյանը՝ օլիմպիական փոխչեմպիոն:

4. Գոռ Մինասյանը նվաճեց Հայաստանի երրորդ արծաթե մեդալը Ռիոյի Օլիմպիական խաղերում:

5. Հայաստանի հավաքականի կիսապաշտպան Հենրիխ Մխիթարյանը 42 միլիոն եվրո տրանսֆերային արժեքով Դորտմունդի «Բորուսիայից» տեղափոխվեց անգլիական եւ համաշխարհային ֆուտբոլի լեգենդար ակումբներից «Մանչեսթեր Յունայթեդ»՝ դառնալով հետխորհրդային երկրների ամենաթանկ ֆուտբոլիստը:

6. Անկախ Հայաստանի պատմության մեջ առաջին անգամ հայ մարմնամարզիկը դարձավ Եվրոպայի չեմպիոն: Օլիմպիական չեմպիոն Ալբերտ Ազարյանից հետո այդ հաջողությանը հասավ Հարություն Մերդինյանը նժույգի վարժությունում:

7. Ռոնալդուի վնասվածքը Պորտուգալիայի հավաքականին չխանգարեց առաջին անգամ դառնալ Եվրոպայի չեմպիոն:

8. Մադրիդի «Ռեալը» նորանշանակ գլխավոր մարզիչ Զինեդին Զիդանի ղեկավարությամբ նվաճեց Չեմպիոնների լիգայի գավաթը, Եվրոպայի սուպերգավաթը եւ աշխարհի ակումբային չեմպիոնի տիտղոսը: Արքայական թիմի առաջատար Ռոնալդուն չորրորդ անգամ արժանացավ «Ոսկե գնդակի»:

9. Համաշխարհային դասակարգման առաջատար, նորվեգացի գրոսմայստեր Մագնուս Կարլսենը պաշտպանեց դասական շախմատի աշխարհի չեմպիոնի տիտղոսը՝ Նյու Յորքում տեղի ունեցած մրցամարտում պարտության մատնելով ռուսաստանցի Սերգեյ Կարյակինին:

10. Դոպինգային սկանդալները չշրջանցեցին Հայաստանը:

Հռիփսիմե Խուրշուդյանը զրկվեց 2012թ. Լոնդոնի Օլիմպիական խաղերի բրոնզե մեդալից, Տիգրան Գ. Մարտիրոսյանը՝ 2008թ. Պեկինի Օլիմպիական խաղերի բրոնզե մեդալից:

Հայկական սպորտի պատմության մեջ դոպինգի համար օլիմպիական մեդալից առաջին անգամ զրկվել էր ծանրորդ Աշոտ Դանիելյանը՝ 2000թ. Սիդնեյի Օլիմպիական խաղերի բրոնզե մեդալակիրը:

Դոպինգային սկանդալներից օգուտ ունեցավ նաեւ հայկական սպորտը: 2008թ. Պեկինի Օլիմպիական խաղերի բրոնզե մեդալակիր Տիգրան Վ. Մարտիրոսյանը պետք է ստանա արծաթե մեդալը, քանի որ 85 կգ քաշային կարգի արդեն նախկին արծաթե մեդալակիր, բելառուս Անդրեյ Ռիբակովը դոպինգի համար զրկվել է մեդալից:
