Հայաստանը շահագրգռված չէ բացասական գործընթացներում՝ եւս մեկ պատերազմ, եւս մեկ հակամարտություն, եւս մեկ կյանքի կորուստ։ 

Դեսպանն ասել է, որ ԵՄ դիրքորոշումը շատ հստակ է՝ իրենք դատապարտում են բռնությունը, կողմերին կոչ են անում զսպվածություն դրսեւորել ու խուսափել ռազմական գործողությունների ցանկացած էսկալացիայից։

«Մենք դատապարտում ենք փոխհրաձգության հետեւանքով երիտասարդների մահը։  Նրանք Հայաստանի կամ Ադրբեջանի ապագան են։ Հետեւաբար մեր դիրքորոշումը հստակ է, հակամարտությունը ռազմական լուծում չունի։ Ռազմական գործողությունները պետք է կանխվեն։ Վստահության հաստատման ու շփման գծի վրա միջադեպերի հետաքննման մեխանիզմները պետք է իրականացվեն՝ Վիեննայում անցած տարվա մայիսին ձեռք բերված պայմանավորվածությունների համաձայն։  Իսկ հակամարտության համընդգրկուն կարգավորման շուրջ բանակցությունները պետք է սկսել ու հաջող ավարտին հասցնել։ ԵՄ-ն անմիջականորեն ներգրավված չէ հակամարտության կարգավորմանը, դա ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահների գործառույթն է, բայց մենք աջակցում ենք ՄԽ ջանքերին։ Մենք ունենք հատուկ ներկայացուցիչ, որը շատ հաճախ է այցելում տարածաշրջան, հանդիպում երկու կողմերի առաջնորդների հետ։ ԵՄ-ն մեծապես շահագրգռված է հակամարտության կարգավորման հարցում։ Եվ մենք հույս ունենք մոտ ժամանակներս զգալի առաջընթաց տեսնել։ Դատելով Հայաստանում իմ շփումներից, ես հավատում եմ, որ հայ հասարակությունը պատրաստ է խաղաղության, պատրաստ է աջակցելու խաղաղության հաստատմանը։ Հայաստանը շահագրգռված չէ բացասական գործընթացներում՝ եւս մեկ պատերազմ, եւս մեկ հակամարտություն, եւս մեկ կյանքի կորուստ։ Դա ես կարող եմ վստահաբար ասել»,– ասել է նա։
