 Վրաստանի նախագահ Գեորգի Մարգվելաշվիլին հայտարարել Է, որ Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի հետ հնարավոր հանդիպումը պետք Է մանրակրկիտ նախապատրաստվի պետական բոլոր գերատեսչությունների ներգրավմամբ, սակայն «ռեալ օրակարգը դեռեւս չի հասել այդ փուլին», տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը: 
ՌԴ նախագահ Պուտինի հետ Վրաստանի առաջին դեմքերի հանդիպման տեսական հնարավորության մասին Թբիլիսիում քանիցս հայտարարում են արդեն մի քանի տարի: Վրաստանի իշխանությունների ներկայացուցիչները եւ նախագահ Մարգվելաշվիլին բազմացս նշել են, որ պատրաստ են մասնակցել Ռուսաստանի նախագահի հետ հանդիպմանը, բայց դրա համար մանրակրկիտ նախապատրաստություն Է պահանջվում, դա չպետք Է լինի «հանդիպում հանուն հանդիպման»եւ պետք Է կայանա գոյություն ունեցող խնդիրները լուծելու համար: 
 
«Միշտ Էլ հարկավոր Է օգտագործել բանակցությունների սեղանը: Իհարկե, հանդիպումը պետք Է նախապատրաստված լինի, եւ դրա համար պետք Է աշխատեն եւ ակտիվորեն ներգրավված լինեն բոլոր գերատեսչությունները»,-ասել Է Մարգվելաշվիլին «Իբերիա» հեռուստաընկերությանը տված հարցազրույցում: 
Նրա խոսքով՝ վրացական կողմը պետք Է կենտրոնանա հանդիպման անցկացման վրա, բայց բանակցությունների ընթացքում խոսակցությունը պետք Է վերաբերի երկրի համար Էական խնդիրների լուծմանը: 
 
«Ռեալ օրակարգը դեռեւս չի հասել այն փուլին, երբ մենք Ռուսաստանի նախագահի հետ միասին կարողանայինք անձամբ հանդիպել իրական խնդիրները լուծելու համար»,-հավելել Է նախագահը:
 
2008 թվականի օգոստոսին Վրաստանը խզել Է ՌԴ-ի հետ դիվանագիտական հարաբերությունները ի պատասխան Մոսկվայի կողմից Աբխազիայի եւ Հարավային Օսիայի անկախության ճանաչման: Սակայն Վրաստանի նոր կառավարության ներկայացուցիչները, որոնք իշխանության են եկել 2012 թվականի հոկտեմբերին կայացած ընտրությունների արդյունքում, Ռուսաստանի հետ հարաբերությունների բարելավումը համարել են արտաքին քաղաքականության գլխավոր գերակայություններից մեկը, հաղորդել Է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
