ԱՄՆ-ի Կոնգրեսի Ներկայացուցիչների պալատ ու Սենատ օրինագիծ Է մտցվել, որը նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփին արգելում Է չեղարկել ՌԴ-ի դեմ սահմանված պատժամիջոցները: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը, փետրվարի 16-ին հայտնել Է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
 
Փաստաթղթի համաձայն՝ պատժամիջոցների չեղարկման կամ դրանց թուլացման համար պահանջվում Է 120 օր տեւողությամբ վերանայման շրջան: Նախագահը կկարողանա համապատասխան քայլեր ձեռնարկել միայն Կոնգրեսի կողմից արգելող բանաձեւի բացակայությամբ: 
 
Բացի այդ, փաստաթուղթը օրենքի ուժ Է տալիս Ռուսաստանի նկատմամբ պատժամիջոցներ սահմանելու մասին ԱՄՆ-ի նախկին նախագահ Բարաք Օբամայի հրամանագրերին: Կոնգրեսի դրած սահմանափակումները վերացնելու համար պահանջվում Է օրենսդիրների համաձայնությունը: 
 
Պատժամիջոցները չեղարկելու կամ թուլացնելու համար ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահը պետք Է կոնգրեսականներին այդ քայլի գրավոր հիմնավորում ներկայացնի: Մասնավորապես, կպահանջվի այն փաստի հաստատումը, որ «Ռուսաստանի կառավարությունը դադարեցրել Է գործողությունները Ուկրաինայում, ինչես նաեւ կիբեռգրոհներն ամերիկացիների դեմ»:
