Մեկնարկել է ՀՀ Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանի աշխատանքային այցը Բելգիայի Թագավորություն: Հանրապետության Նախագահը փետրվարի 27-ի առավոտյան Բրյուսելի ԵԺԿ կենտրոնակայանում հանդիպում է ունեցել Եվրոպական ժողովրդական կուսակցության (ԵԺԿ) նախագահ Ժոզեֆ Դոլի հետ: 

Ինչպես  տեղեկանում ենք ՀՀ նախագահի աշխատակազմի հասարակայնության եւ տեղեկատվության միջոցների հետ կապերի վարչությունից, զրուցակիցներն անդրադարձել են Հայաստան-Եվրամիություն հարաբերությունների զարգացման հեռանկարին, Հայաստանում իրականացվող համընդգրկուն բարեփոխումների ընթացքին, այդ թվում՝ Սահմանադրության փոփոխություններից հետո կառավարման նոր համակարգի անցման, ժողովրդավարական հաստատությունների հետագա զարգացման և ամրապնդման ուղղությամբ իրականացվող աշխատանքներին, ապրիլին կայանալիք խորհրդարանական ընտրությունների նախապատրաստությանը:

Սերժ Սարգսյանը և Ժոզեֆ Դոլը քննարկել են նաև միջազգային հարթակներում ԵԺԿ գործընկերների հետ Հայաստանի փոխգործակցությանը, ընդհանուր խնդիրներին ու մարտահրավերներին վերաբերող հարցեր, մտքեր են փոխանակել միջկուսակցական կապերի ամրապնդման վերաբերյալ: 

Նշելով, որ Բելգիա իր աշխատանքային այցի ընթացքում Եվրամիության ղեկավարության հետ նախատեսված են հագեցած և բովանդակալից օրակարգով հանդիպումներ ու քննարկումներ, Հանրապետության Նախագահը ԵՄ-ի հետ Հայաստանի հարաբերությունների խորացման գործում մեծ դեր է վերապահել ԵԺԿ-ին՝ որպես Եվրոպայի ամենաազդեցիկ քաղաքական ուժի: Նախագահ Սարգսյանը մեծապես կարևորել է ԵԺԿ հետ ՀՀԿ համագործակցության շարունակական խորացումը և երախտագիտություն հայտնել Հայաստանին և ՀՀԿ-ին մշտապես սատարելու պատրաստակամության ու գործնական աջակցության համար:

Այդ համատեքստում կարևորվել են նաև ԵԺԿ հետ համագործակցությունը տարբեր միջխորհրդարանական հարթակներում՝ ուղղված մարդու իրավունքների պաշտպանությանն ու ազատությունների երաշխավորմանը, ժողովրդավարական հաստատությունների զարգացմանը, սոցիալական, հումանիտար , մշակութային համագործակցությանը:

Հանրապետության Նախագահը և ԵԺԿ նախագահը անդրադարձել են նաև Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հիմնահարցին: Սերժ Սարգսյանը ներկայացրել է հակամարտության կարգավորման հայկական կողմի մոտեցումները, իրավիճակը արցախա-ադրբեջանական շփման գծում, Ադրբեջանի կողմից հրադադարի ռեժիմի պարբերաբար խախտման, սադրիչ գործողությունների և իրավիճակի լարման մասին տեղեկություններ: 

Նշելով, որ ԼՂ հակամարտությունը շարունակում է լրջագույն մարտահրավեր մնալ ինչպես տարածաշրջանային, այնպես էլ եվրոպական անվտանգության համար՝ Նախագահ Սար գսյանն ընդգծել է, որ Հայաստանը, ինչպես և ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահող երկրները, խաղաղ կարգավորմանն այլընտրանք չի տեսնում և, ի տարբերություն Ադրբեջանի, բնավ չի ցանկանում, որպեսզի մեր տարածաշրջանը ևս մեկ անգամ ընկղմվի պատերազմի մղձավանջի մեջ։ Հանրապետության Նախագահը վերահաստատել է, որ Հայաստանը ջանքեր չի խնայելու ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի հետ համատեղ հասնելու հիմնախնդրի բացառապես խաղաղ կարգավորմանը, ինչը, Նախագահի համոզմամբ, նաև միջազգային հանրության հավաքական ընկալումն է:

Հանդիպման ժամանակ Սերժ Սարգսյանը շնորհակալություն է հայտնել ԵԺԿ նախագահին մարտի վերջին Մալթայում կայանալիք ԵԺԿ քաղաքական համաժողովին մասնակցելու հրավերի համար:
