 ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը գլխավոր դատախազ Ջեֆ Սեշնսի հասցեին քննադատությունը՝ Ռուսաստանի դեսպան Սերգեյ Կիսլյակի հետ նրա հանդիպումների պատճառով, որակել Է «վհուկների որս»: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է Արմենպրեսը, ասված Է Սպիտակ տան ղեկավարի հայտարարության մեջ, որը ներկայացրել Է Reuters գործակալությունը:
 
«Դեմոկրատները չափից ավելի են ջանում: Դա վհուկների համատարած որս Է»,- հայտարարել Է Թրամփը: 
 
Նախագահը Սեշնսին համարել Է «ազնիվ մարդ» եւ նշել, որ նա սուտ վկայակություններ չի տվել՝ ելույթ ունենալով Սենատում իր թեկնածությունը քննարկելու ժամանակ: «Նա կարող Էր իր պատասխանն ավելի ճշգրիտ ձեւակերպել, բայց դա ակնհայտորեն կանխամտածված չի արվել»,- հավելել Է Սպիտակ տան ղեկավարը:
 
Մարտի 2-ին ավելի վաղ Թրամփը հայտարարել Է, որ «լիովին» վստահում Է Ջեֆ Սեշնսին: Միաժամանակ նա նշել Է, որ տեղյակ չի եղել Ռուսաստանի դեսպանի հետ գլխավոր դատախազի շփումներին: 
 
Սեշնսն ինքը, մարտի 2-ին մեկնաբանելով Կիսլյակի հետ կայացած հանդիպումները, հավաստիացրել Է, որ ռուսական կողմի հետ չի քննարկել Դոնալդ Թրամփի ընտրարշավը, ինչպես նաեւ ինքնաբացարկ Է հայտարարել այդ հարցի հետ կապված հետաքննություններում: 
 
Մարտի 1-ին «Վաշինգտոն փոստ»-ը նյութ Էր հրապարակել, որում պնդվում Էր, որ Սեշնսը ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահական ընտրություններից մի քանի ամիս առաջ, որոնք տեղի են ունեցել 2016 թվականի նոյեմբերին, երկու հանդիպում Է ունեցել Ռուսաստանի դեսպանի հետ: Ընդսմին հունվարին գլխավոր դատախազի պաշտոնում իր հաստատման շուրջ  Սենատում կայացած լսումների ընթացքում այդ մասին չի հիշատակել: 
 
ԱՄՆ-ի Կոնգրեսում դեմոկրատների ղեկավարները պահանջել են, որ Ջեֆ Սեշնսը պաշտոնաթող լինի:
