Ежедневно во всём мире происходит множество различных преступлений, среди которых есть убийства и нанесение сильных телесных повреждений. Но самые страшные те преступления, которые совершают люди в отношении своих родных и близких.

Эта ужасная история о том, как мать поджарила своего ребенка в духовке. Она произошла в 2002 году в одной американской семье. Глава семейства, Роберт Смит, увидел свою дочь Эшли внутри включенной духовки. Девочке было всего 14 месяцев. Он в шоке поспешил скорее достать ребенка, но Эшли уже успела получить ожоги 3-й степени.

Мать девочки, Мелисса Райт, убрала из духовки все полки, включила максимальную температура и засунула в неё Эшли. Свой поступок полиции она объяснила как нелепую случайность. Будто бы девочка выпала из её рук и духовка сама закрылась. Потом она говорила, что какие-то голоса приказали ей засунуть дочь в духовку.

Мелисса Райт была приговорена к 25-ти годам лишения свободы, а маленькой Эшли пришлось перенести 28 операций на протяжении 10 лет.

Сегодня Эшли уже 15 лет и она только собирается пойти в школу. Девочка старается не думать о прошлом и с уверенностью смотрит вперед.

Свою мать она простила, хотя та, так и не попросила у ребенка прощения за свой поступок. Девочка сказала: «Я простила Мелиссу. Я не ненавижу её, но и не люблю».

Мелисса Райт подавала прошение о досрочном освобождении, но ей отказали. Её старшая дочь Кортни, которой тогда было 8 лет, также просила об УДО. Она заявляла, что их мать прошла полное психологическое восстановление и стала совсем другим человеком. Но сама Эшли была против освобождения матери. Она сказала, что Мелисса должна понести полное наказание за свой поступок, и что не доверяет ей и всё еще боится.
