Այսօր Հայոց ցեղասպանության 102-րդ տարելիցն է։ 1915 թվականին Օսմանյան Կայսրությունն իրականացրեց 1,5 միլիոն արևմտահայերի զանգվածային ոչնչացում։ Ես հպարտ եմ, որ հայ եմ։ Մեր պարտքն է չլինել լուռ ամեն անգամ և ամեն տեղ, որտեղ մարդ արարածները տառապանքների ու ոտնձգությունների են ենթարկվում՝ անկախ նրանց ռասսայից ու դավանանքից։ Լռությունը ոգևորում է դահիճին, բայց ոչ երբեք խարազանտվողին։ Ինձ տխրեցնում է, որ պատմության դասագրքերը ճանաչում այսպիսի տանջանք, բայց իմ ձայնը կօգտագործվի, որպեսզի մարդիկ իրազեկվեն, որ փրկվածներ կան։ «Ես կուզենայի տեսնել որևէ ուժ այս աշխարհում, որը կփորձեր ոչնչացնել այս ազգը, անկարևոր մարդկանց այս փոքրիկ ցեղախումբը, ովքեր կռվել են իրենց բոլոր պատերազմներում ու պարտվել, ում կառույցները փուլ են եկել, գրականությունը կարդացված չէ, իսկ աղոթքներին այլևս պատասխանող չկա։ Փորձե՛ք, ոչնչացրե՛ք Հայաստանը։ Տեսնենք, արդյո՞ք կկարողանաք անել դա։ Ուղարկե՛ք նրանց անապատ՝ առանց հացի ու ջրի։ Այրե՛ք նրանց տներն ու եկեղեցիները։ Ու հետո կտեսնեք, թե արդյո՞ք նրանք այլևս չեն ծիծաղի, երգի ու աղոթի կրկնին։ Քանի որ, երբ երկու հայ հանդիպում են աշխարհի ցանկացած կետում, կտեսնեք՝ արդյո՞ք նրանք Նոր Հայաստան չեն ստեղծում»։ Վիլիամ Սարոյան #Neverforget #armeniangenocide #1915
