ԱՄՆ Սենատում Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը ճանաչող երկկուսակցական բանաձևի նախագիծ է ներկայացվել

Ամերիկայի Միացյալ Նահանգների Նյու Ջերսի նահանգը ներկայացնող դեմոկրատ սենատոր Ռոբերտ Մենենդեսն ապրիլի 24-ին Սենատին ներկայացրել է  երկկուսակցական նախագիծ, որով առաջարկվում է ճանաչել Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը:

Ներկայացված նախագծով առաջարկվում է երաշխավորել, որ Միացյալ Նահանգների արտաքին քաղաքականությունը կարտացոլի համապատասխան ըմբռնում մարդու իրավունքներին առնչվող հարցերին,  մարդկության դեմ հանցագործություններին, էթնիկ զտումներին և  ցեղասպանություններին` ԱՄՆ-ի կողմից փաստագրված Հայոց ցեղասպանության օրինակով:

Նախագծի համահեղինակներն են սենատորներ Թեդ Քրուզը, Էդ Մարկին և Թոմ Ուդոլը:

«Օսմանյան կայսրությունում տեղի ունեցած ողբերգությունից 102 տարի անց մենք պետք է այն անվանենք իր իսկական անունով` Ցեղասպանություն: Ես կարծում եմ, որ այդ քայլին գնալու մեր շարունակական անկարողությունը տեղ է թողնում ժամանակակից աշխարհում բարբարոսությունների համար, ուստի ես իմ սենատոր գործընկերներին կոչ եմ անում վերջ դնել այս ամոթալի իրողությանը: Այս բանաձևը հստակ հաստատում է, որ մենք միշտ կհարգենք այն անմեղ հայ տղամարդկանց, կանանց և երեխաների հիշատակը, ովքեր սպանվել են կամ արտաքսվել են իրենց հայրենիքից, և միշտ կհիշենք այդ ամենը որպեÕ ½ դաս, որը միշտ հակազդելու մարդկության դեմ բոլոր հանցագործություններին»,- ասել է Ռոբերտ Մենենդեսը:

ԱՄՆ Հայ դատի հանձնախմբի գործադիր տնօրեն Արամ Համբարյանը շնորհակալություն է հայտնել սենատոր Մենենդեսին և նրա գործընկերներին նախագիծը ներկայացնելու համար: «Ակնհայտ է, որ հայ-թուրքական հարաբերությունների կարգավորման համար նախ անհրաժեշտ է, որ Թուրքիան ճանաչի փաստերը և Հայոց ցեղասպանության հետևանքները»,- ասել է Համբարյանը:
