ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսում անցյալ տարվա նոյեմբերին կայացած ԱՄՆ նախագահական ընտրությունների ընթացքի վրա ազդելու Ռուսաստանի ենթադրյալ փորձերի առիթով քննությունը կարող է ձգվել մինչեւ 2018 թվականի աշուն, երբ կանցկացվեն օրենսդիր մարմնի միջանկյալ ընտրությունները: Այս մասին հայտնում է Politico պարբերականը, որը զրուցել է օրենսդիրների հետ:

Պարբերականը նշել է Կոնգրեսի երկու պալատների հետախուզության հարցերով հատուկ կոմիտեներում գործընթացի դանդաղման մասին, որոնք իրականացնում են քննությունը: Օրենսդիրները նույնիսկ քննությունն ավարտելու հստակ ժամկետներ չունեն: Պարբերականը համոզվել է, որ այս գործընթացն այնքան ուժգին է քաղաքականացվել, որ կարող է Կոնգրեսին խանգարել պարզել անցյալ տարվա ընտրություններում տեղի ունեցածի հանգամանքները: Politico-ի կարծիքով՝ Ռուսաստանի գործով քննությունը կարող է նաեւ տարիներ տեւել, եթե ելնենք նախորդ քննություններից, որոնք նախաձեռնել են ամերիկացի օրենսդիրները:

Այսպես, օրինակ, Ներկայացուցիչների պալատի հետախուզության հարցերով կոմիտեին առնվազն 2 տարի էր պետք, որ ավարտի 2012 թվականին Բենղազիի ամերիկյան հյուպատոսության վրա հարձակման քննությունը, որի ընթացքում զոհվել են ամերիկացի 4 ծառայողներ, այդ թվում՝ Լիբիայում ԱՄՆ դեսպան Քրիսթոֆեր Սթիվենսը: Բենղազիի գործով հատուկ կոմիտեի հաջորդ քննությունը արդեն 2 տարուց ավելի տեւեց: Սենատի հետախուզության հարցերով կոմիտեն ավելի քան 5 տարի է կատարել ԱՄՆ նախկին նախագահ Ջորջ Բուշ կրտսերի օրոք ԿՀՎ-ի խոշտանգումների կիրառման դեպքերի քննությունը:

Politico-ն շեշտում է, որ ներկայումս երկու կոմիտեներն էլ Ռուսաստանի գործով քննության վաղ փուլերում են: Նրանց խոչընդոտում են երկու կուսակցությունների անդամների տարաձայնությունները, վկաների ցուցակի եւ լսումների ժամանակացույցի հաստատման խնդիրները, ինչպես նաեւ հույժ գաղտնի փաստաթղթերով աշխատելու խիստ կանոնները: Ըստ պարբերականի՝ այսպիսի դասավորությունը ձեռնտու է դեմոկրատների՝ հանրապետականների կողմից վերահսկվող Կոնգրեսում մեծամասնությունը վերադարձնելու ձգտմանը:

Ավելի վաղ ամերիկացի օրենսդիրները հայտարարել էին նախագահական ընտրարշավի ժամանակ ամերիկյան քաղաքական կազմակերպությունների դեմ իրականացված կիբերհարձակումների քննություն սկսելու մասին, որի պատասխանատվությունը Վաշինգտոնը փորձում է դնել Մոսկվայի վրա: Այս մեղադրանքները անցյալ տարվա դեկտեմբերին պատժամիջոցներ սահմանելու հիմնական պատրվակն էին, որոնք առնչվել են ռուսական որոշ ընկերությունների, ԱԴԾ-ին եւ ՌԴ ԶՈւ-ի Գլխավոր շտաբի Գլխավոր վարչությանը: Դրանից զատ, ԱՄՆ իշխանություններն արտաքսեցին ռուս 35 դիվանագետների եւ հայտնեցին Նյու Յորքի եւ Մերիլենդի նահանգներում ՌԴ-ին պատկանող դիվանագիտական 2 ամառանոցները փակելու մասին:
