Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը Հայոց ցեղասպանության միջազգային ճանաչման գործում ներդրած նշանակալի ավանդի համար Գերմանիայի Դաշնային Հանրապետության Բունդեսթագի պատգամավոր Քրիստոֆ Բերգներին պարգևատրել է Մխիթար Գոշի մեդալով։ Բունդեսթագի պատգամավորը ՀՀ Նախագահից մեդալը ստացավ Հանրապետության տոնի կապակցությամբ ՀՀ նախագահական նստավայրում պարգևատրման արարողության ընթացքում: Պարգևատրման արարողությունից հետո լրագրողների հետ զրույցում Քրիստոֆ Բերգները իր գոհունակությունը հայտնեց, որ Գերմանիայի խորհրդարանը պաշտոնապես ճանաչել և դատապարտել է Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը: «Ես կարծում եմ, որ սա անհրաժեշտ և միևնույն ժամանակ երկար սպասված որոշում էր, որը մենք կայացրեցինք անցած տարի: Ես կարծում եմ, որ սա մեր կողմից հավատարմություն էր պատմական ճշմարտություններին: Ուստի, ես շատ ուրախ եմ, որ մենք կարողացանք անցած տարի նման որոշում ընդունել խորհրդարանում»,­- ասաց նա: Բունդեսթագի պատգամավորն ընդգծեց, որ առաջին անգամ է Հայաստանում պետական բարձր պարգևի արժանանում, ինչի կապակցությամբ շատ ուրախ է: «Ես շատ շնորհակալ եմ նաև այն պատգամավորներին, ովքեր Գերմանիայի խորհրդարանում կողմ քվեարկեցին Օսմանյան Կայսրությունում հայ ժողովրդի նկատմամբ իրականացված Ցեղասպանությունը ճանաչելու և դատապարտելու որոշմանը»,-­ ընդգծեց նա: Քրիստոֆ Բերգները նաև խոստացավ շարունակել ակտիվորեն նպաստել Հայաստանի և Գերմանիայի միջև հարաբերությունների խորացմանը: «Դրա համար լավ հնարավորություններ է տալիս Եվրոպական Միության Արևելյան գործընկերության ծրագիրը: Ես հավատում եմ, որ Եվրոպական Միությունը, Գերմանիան կշարունակեն նպաստել Հայաստանի զարգացմանը: Մենք կփորձենք ամեն ինչ անել դրա համար: Ես այս երկրին և նրա ժողովրդին մաղթում եմ լավագույնը»,-­ եզրափակեց Բերգները:
