Մեկնարկել է 2018 թ. «Ավրորա» մրցանակի առաջադրումների փուլը։ «Ավրորա» մարդասիրական նախաձեռնության «Ավրորա» մրցանակը համաշխարհային մրցանակ է, որը տրվում է Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը վերապրածների անունից՝ ի երախտագիտություն նրանց փրկողների: Մրցանակը փնտրում է այնպիսի անձնվեր անհատների պատմություններ, ովքեր այլոց փրկության համար մեծ ռիսկերի գնով բացառիկ խիզախություն, նվիրվածություն եւ ազդեցություն են ցուցաբերել։

Յուրաքանչյուր ոք կարող է առաջադրել այն թեկնածուին, որը, ըստ առաջադրողի, իր կյանքին, առողջությանը, ազատությանը եւ բարօրությանը սպառնացող մեծ ռիսկերի գնով բացառիկ ազդեցություն է թողել մարդկային կյանքի փրկության եւ մարդասիրական հիմնախնդիրների առաջխաղացման գործում։

Մրցանակի չափանիշներին եւ ընտրական գործընթացին նկարագրությանը կարելի է ծանոթանալ բաժնում։

2018թ. «Ավրորա» մրցանակի առաջադրումների փուլը կավարտվի 2017թ. սեպտեմբերի 8-ին։

Առաջադրումների փուլի բացումն անմիջապես հետեւում է մայիսի 28-ին Երեւանում տեղի ունեցած հանդիսավոր արարողությանը, որի ընթացքում բժիշկ Թոմ Քաթինան դարձավ 2017թ. «Ավրորա» մրցանակի դափնեկիր։ Մրցանակը նրան հանձնեց հռչակավոր պոետ, երգիչ եւ երգահան Շառլ Ազնավուրը, իսկ արարողությանը ներկա էին «Ավրորա» մրցանակի Ընտրող հանձնաժողովի մի շարք անվանի անդամներ, այդ թվում՝ Նոբելյան դափնեկիրներ Շիրին Էբադին եւ Լեյմա Գբովեն, մարդու իրավունքների ակտիվիստ Հինա Ջիլանին, Ավստրալիայի նախկին արտգործնախարար եւ Միջազգային ճգնաժամային խմբի նախագահ ու գործադիր տնօրեն Գարեթ Էվանսը, Մեքսիկայի նախկին նախագահ Էռնեստո Սեդիլյոն եւ Նյու Յորքի «Կարնեգի» կորպորացիայի նախագահ, «Ավրորա» մարդասիրական նախաձեռնության համահիմնադիր Վարդան Գրեգորյանը։

«Ավրորա» մրցանակի դափնեկրին ամեն տարի կշնորհվի 100,000 դոլարի պարգեւ, ինչպես նաեւ բացառիկ հնարավորություն՝ շարունակելու նվիրատվության շղթան՝ 1,000,000 դոլարի դրամաշնորհի առաջադրելով իրեն ոգեշնչած եւ գործի մղած կազմակերպություններին։

2017 թ. «Ավրորա» մրցանակի դափնեկիր Թոմ Քաթինան մեկ միլիոն դոլորի պարգեւի է առաջադրել Աֆրիկյան առաքելության առողջապահական հիմնադրամ  (AMHF, ԱՄՆ), Կաթոլիկ առողջապահական առաքելության խորհուրդ (CMMB, ԱՄՆ) եւ Aktion Canchanabury (Գերմանիա) կազմակերպություններին:

«Ավրորա» մարդասիրական նախաձեռնության «Ավրորա» մրցանակը ստեղծվել է 2015թ. Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը վերապրածների անունից՝ ի երախտագիտություն նրանց փրկողների, եւ շնորհվելու է 2015-ից մինչեւ 2023 թվականները՝ ի հիշատակ 1915-1923 թվականների Հայոց ցեղասպանության ութ տարիների։
