Կիպրոսը շահագրգռված է Հայաստան-Եվրամիություն համագործակցության հետագա խորացմամբ: Այս մասին, այսօր՝ հունիսի 19-ին, ՀՀ վարչապետ Կարեն Կարապետյանի հետ հանդիպման ժամանակ նշել է Կիպրոսի Հանրապետության  նախագահի արտերկրյա եւ հումանիտար հարցերով հանձնակատար Ֆոտիու Ֆոտիսը:

Կառավարությունից այտնում են, որ վարչապետը նշել է, որ Հայաստանը կարեւորում է Կիպրոսի հետ պատմական բարեկամության վրա հիմնված միջպետական հարաբերությունների շարունակական զարգացումը թե´ երկկողմ, թե´ բազմակողմ ձեւաչափերով: Նշելով, որ այդ գործում ուրույն ներդրում ունի Կիպրոսի կենսունակ հայ համայնքը՝ Կարեն Կարապետյանը ողջունել է ՀՀ սփյուռքի նախարարության ու Կիպրոսի հումանիտար եւ արտերկրյա հարցերով նախագահի հանձնակատարի գրասենյակի միջեւ Փոխըմբռնման հուշագրի ստորագրումը:

Վարչապետն անդրադարձել է երկկողմ տնտեսական կապերի աշխուժացման հարցին՝ կարեւորելով առկա ներուժի իրացումը, գործարար շփումների խթանման, զբոսաշրջության զարգացման եւ փոխգործակցության խորացման ուղղությամբ քայլերը: Կառավարության ղեկավարը խոսել է նաեւ Հայաստան-Եվրամիություն հարաբերությունների  հետագա զարգացման եւ ԵՄ շրջանակում Հայաստան-Կիպրոս համագործակցության մասին:

Ֆոտիու Ֆոտիսի խոսքով՝ հայ-կիպրական հարաբերություններն ավելի քան բարեկամական են, քանի որ դրանց հիմքում ընկած են պատմական, մշակութային եւ կրոնական ամուր կապերը: Նշելով, որ Կիպրոսի կառավարությունը բազմաթիվ ծրագրերով աջակցում է կիպրահայ ակտիվ համայնքին իր կենսունակությունը պահպանելու գործում՝ նա կարեւորել է Փոխըմբռնման հուշագրի ստորագրումը, որը կխթանի երկու երկրների սփյուռքյան կազմակերպությունների միջեւ համագործակցությունը: Կիպրոսի նախագահի արտերկրյա եւ հումանիտար հարցերով հանձնակատարը նշել է նաեւ, որ Կիպրոսը շահագրգռված է Հայաստան-Եվրամիություն համագործակցության հետագա խորացմամբ եւ հնարավորինս կաջակցի այդ գործընթացին: Ֆոտիսն ասել է, որ առկա են անհրաժեշտ բոլոր նախադրյալները տնտեսության, առեւտրի, զբոսաշրջության եւ փոխշահավետ այլ ոլորտներում եւս համագործակցությունը զարգացնելու համար:
