Թուրքիայում գործող հայկական «Արաս» հրատարակչության կողմից լույս է տեսել հայտնի արևմտահայ գրող Մկրտիչ Մարկոսյանի «Գյավուրի թաղ» գրքի անգլերեն թարգմանությունը, գրում Ստամբուլի հայկական պարբերականներից «Ակօսը»։

Գիրքը թարգմանվել և հրատարակվել է Լոնդոնում գործող Կոմիտասի համալսարանի և Գալուստ Գյուլբենկյան հիմնադրամի աջակցությամբ։

Մկրտիչ Մարկոսյանը ծնվել է 1938-ին, Դիարբեքիրի Հանչեփեթ թաղամասում, որը հայտնի է որպես «գյավուրների» (մուսուլմանների համար անհավատների, այսինքն` քրսիտոնյա հայերի ու հույների) թաղամասում: Վերջինս մի շարք գրքերի հեղինակ է:

«Գյավուրի թաղ»-ը ավելի վաղ «Արաս» հրատարակչության կողմից լույս է ընծայվել հայերեն, թուրքերեն և քրդերեն լեզուներով և մի քանի անգամ վաճառքի աննախադեպ ռեկորդներ է սահմանել։

Նշենք, որ «Արաս» հրատարակչությունը հիմնադրվել է Ստամբուլում 1993թ.-ին: Հրատարակչությունը կարճ ժամանակում կարողացել է շատերի համար դառնալ «պատուհան» դեպի հայկական գրականություն, քանի որ զբաղվում է հայ դասականների, հայոց պատմության և Հայոց ցեղասպանության վերաբերյալ բազմաթիվ գրքերի թուրքերեն թարգմանությամբ՝ հասանելի դարձնելով այն թուրքական հասարակության բոլոր խավերին:
