 Աշխարհում կույր մարդկանց թիվը մինչեւ 2050 թվականը կավելանա եռակի: Այդ մասին ասված Է հետազոտության մեջ, որը հրապարակված Է Lancet Global Health բժշկական հանդեսում, տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը:

Գիտնականների կարծիքով՝ մինչեւ 2050 թվականը կույրերի թիվը կարող Է 36 միլիոնից ավելանալ մինչեւ 115 միլիոն: Դրա պատճառը ծերացող բնակչության աճն Է: «2015 թվականին աշխարհում 7,33 մլրդ մարդուց 36 միլիոնը կույրերն Էին… Աշխարհի բնակչության տարիքային կառուցվածքում տեղի ունեցող աճն ու փոփոխությունը հանգեցնում Է կուրություն եւ տեսողության խանգարում ունեցող մարդկանց թվի զգալի ավելացման… Օրինակ, մինչեւ 2020 թվականը կույր մարդկանց թվաքանակը կավելանա մինչեւ 38,5 միլիոնի նշագիծ, մինչեւ 2050 թվականն այդ թիվը կաճի մինչեւ 115 միլիոն»,-ասված Է հաշվետվության մեջ:

Կույրերի եւ տեսողության խանգարում ունեցող մարդկանց ամենամեծ թիվը դիտվում Է Հարավային Ասիայի երկրներում, ինչպես նաեւ աֆրիկյան այն երկրներում, որոնք ընկած են Սահարայից դեպի հարավ:

1990-ից մինչեւ 2015 թվականն ընկած ժամանակաշրջանում 188 երկրների ուսումնասիրության տվյալները ցույց են տվել, որ ներկայում ավելի քան 200 մլն մարդ տառապում Է տեսողական ընկալման միջին եւ ծանր խանգարումներից: Այդ թիվը մինչեւ 2050 թվականը կարող Է գերազանցել 550 միլիոնի նշագիծը, հաղորդել Է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
