Գյումրիում վերջին հրաժեշտն են տալիս սիրված հոգևորականին: 
Գյումրու «Սբ Աստվածածին» (Յոթ Վերք) եկեղեցում հընթացս Ս. Պատարագի կատարվում է Նարեկ եպիսկոպոսի վերջին օծումը: Հանգուցյալ Սրբազան Հոր աճյունը տեղափոխվել էր Գյումրիի Յոթվերք Ս. Աստվածածին առաջնորդանիստ եկեղեցի օգոստոսի 22-ին՝ վերջին հրաժեշտի համար: Կատարվեց եկեղեցու կարգ: 
Շիրակի հավատացյալ թեմը սիրում ու հարգում էր նվիրյալ հոգևորականին, ով ամենադժվար տարիներին եղել է իր հոտի կողքին: 1973 թվականի սեպտեմբերի 30-ին, ձեռամբ երջանկահիշատակ Վազգեն Ա Կաթողիկոսի ձեռնադրվել է եպիսկոպոս` մինչև 1990 թ. շարունակելով պաշտոնավարել իբրև Շիրակի թեմի առաջնորդ, իսկ հետերկրաշարժյան ծանր օրերին ղեկավարել է թեմի քաղաքների և գյուղերի վերականգնողական անհետաձգելի աշխատանքները` մասնակցելով նաև կարևոր վերաշինություններին: Հանգստյան կոչվելով` Նարեկ Սրբազանը, վերադարձել է հայրենիք և վերջին տարիներին իր օգտակար ծառայությունն էր բերում Շիրակի թեմում:
«Սրբազանը մեր եկեղեցու այն բացառիկ հոգևորականներից մեկն է, ով խորհրդային տարիներին ծանրությունը կրեց վարչակարգի հալածանքների և կարողացավ Շիրակի թեմում պահպանել եկեղեցին և նաև իր անձնվեր օրինակով կարողացավ ստիպել, որ բազմաթիվ անձեր գնան ճեմարան և դառնան հոգևորական՝ տեսնելով իր մեջ ծառայության ոգին, եկեղեցու միջոցով ազգին ծառայելու ճանապարհը: Շիրակի թեմի առաջնորդ Միքայել սրբազանն էլ միշտ բարձր է գնահատել Նարեկ սրբազանի դերը՝ ասելով, որ Նարեկ սրբազանն է իրեն ուղղորդել ճեմարան»,-նշեց Շիրակի թեմի հոգևոր հովիվ տեր Նշան քահանա Պանֆյորովը:
Նարեկ եպիսկոպոս Շաքարյանը (ավազանի անունը` Արշավիր) ծնվել է 1932 թ., Դամասկոսում: Սկզբնական կրթությունը ստացել է տեղի Սահակյան վարժարանում: 1946 թ. ընտանիքով ներգաղթել է հայրենիք և հաստատվել Լենինականում: 1957 թթ. ավարտել է տեղի միջնակարգ դպրոցը: 1958 թ. ընդունվել է Ս. Էջմիածնի հոգևոր ճեմարան: 1960 թ. ձեռնադրվել է սարկավագ` ձեռամբ Գերաշնորհ Տ. Հայկազուն արքեպիսկոպոս Աբրահամյանի: 1961 թ. ավարտել է հոգևոր ճեմարանը` որպես ավարտաճառ ներկայացնելով «Գևորգ Զ Կաթողիկոսի կյանքն ու գործունեությունը» ուսումնասիրությունը:
1961-1962 թթ. աստվածաբանության և Եկեղեցու պատմության վերաբերյալ դասախոսություններ է ունկնդրել և վկայագիր ստացել Զագորսկի հոգևոր ակադեմիայում (Ռուսաստան): 
1962 թ. օգոստոսի 25-ին ձեռամբ Գերաշնորհ Տ. Հայկազուն արքեպիսկոպոս Աբրահամյանի ձեռնադրվել է կուսակրոն քահանա և վերանվանվել Նարեկ աբեղա: Մայր Աթոռում վարել է մի շարք պատասխանատու պաշտոններ: 1963 թ. պաշտպանելով «Հայ եկեղեցական իրավունքը մինչև Ը դարը» թեզը` ստացել է մասնավոր վարդապետության աստիճան: 1968 թ. Ազգային-եկեղեցական ժողովում ընտրվել է Մայր Աթոռի վերստուգիչ հանձնաժողովի անդամ և այդ պարտականությունը վարել է մինչև 1990 թ. վերջը: 1967-1972 թթ. եղել է Ս. Գեղարդի վանքի վանահայր: 1971 թ. դեկտեմբերի 1-ից Ն.Ս.Օ.Տ.Տ. Վազգեն Ա Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսի սրբատառ կոնդակով նշանակվել է Շիրակի թեմի առաջնորդական տեղապահ, իսկ 1973 թ. հոկտեմբերին` Շիրակի թեմի առաջնորդ` միաժամանակ վարելով Ռուսաստանի և Նոր Նախիջևանի թեմի առաջնորդի պաշտոնը: 1973 թ. սեպտեմբերի 30-ին, ձեռամբ երջանկահիշատակ Վազգեն Ա Կաթողիկոսի ձեռնադրվել է եպիսկոպոս` մինչև 1990 թ. շարունակելով պաշտոնավարել իբրև Շիրակի թեմի առաջնորդ: 1991-2003 թթ. ծառայել է Ֆրանսիայում` Փարիզում և արվարձաններում, ապա մինչև 2008 թ. վարել է Նիսի և շրջակայքի հոգևոր տեսչությունը:
