ԱՄՆ-ի Տեխաս նահանգի Հյուսթոն քաղաքին պատուհասած «Հարվի» փոթորիկից մեծապես տուժել են նաև տեղի շուրջ 3 հազար հայերը: Ինչպես հաղորդում է Արմենպրեսը, խնդրի վերաբերյալ «Ամերիկայի ձայն»-ը խոսել է Հյուսթոնի Սուրբ Գևորգ հայկական եկեղեցու ծխական խորհրդի ատենապետ Արեգ Սահակյանի հետ:

Նա հայտնել է, որ իրենք արդեն երկու օր է՝ դուրս են եկել տանից ու տեղափոխվել են ընկերոջ տուն: Հետ վերադառնալ հնարավոր կլինի միայն այն դեպքում, երբ անձրևը կտրվի ու ջուրը հետ քաշվի:

Պատասխանելով հարցին՝ արդյոք տեղի հայկական առաքելական եկեղեցին օգնություն ցուցաբերում է համայնքի անդամներին՝ Սահակյանը նշել է. « Եկեղեցին միշտ պատրաստ է օգնել հայ համայնքին և թիկունք կանգնել նրանց: Այս պահին մեր ծխական խորհրդի անդամների մեծ մասի վիճակը անելանելի է: Վստահ չենք, թե ինչպես ենք օգնելու մեր ժողովրդին, սակայն գիտեմ, որ եկեղեցու հովիվը՝ Տեր Մարտիրոս Հակոբյանն աշխատում է հայ համայնքի անդամների հետ հեռախոսով կապ պահպանել: Փորձում ենք օգնել ինչքանով, որ կարող ենք, սակայն այս իրավիճակում շատ դժվար է այդ անելը»:

Սուրբ Գևորգ հայկական եկեղեցու ծխական խորհրդի ատենապետն ընդգծել է, որ տեղական իշխանությունները պատշաճ օգնություն են ցուցաբերում մարդկանց: «Նրանք նավերով են օգնում ժողովրդին: Շատերը փակված են մնացել իրենց տներում և ջրի պատճառով չեն կարողանում դուրս գալ: Այդ առումով իշխանությունները օգնություն են տրամադրում և նրանց դուրս են բերում նույնիսկ ուղղաթիռներով»,- հայտնել է նա:
