Հանճարների կյանքը ուսումնասիրելով` ես եկել եմ մի եզրակացության, որ ի վերջո նրանց հավաքական և ամբողջական կերպարը որոշակիորեն հասկանալու համար, պետք է ուսումնասիրես նրանց նամակները: ժամանակի ընթացքում ես հասկացա, որ հանճարները որպես կանոն աշխատել են այրել իրենց բոլոր նամակները: Նամակներ, որոնք հասցեատերերի համար անգին գանձեր են հանդիսացել...Նամակներում հանճարները իրոք արտացոլել են իրենց հոգու իրական հարստությունը: Հենց այդ նամակների ուսումնասիրության միջոցով ես կարողացա տարանջատել հանճարեղներին տաղանդավորներից: Տաղանդավոր մարդիկ կյանքում ամեն ինչի հասնում են սեփական ջանքերի ու տաղանդի շնորհիվ և համարյա միշտ ապրում են բարեկեցիկ և անդորր կյանքով, ի տարբերություն հանճարների, որոնք միշտ ունենում են աննորմալ, հաճախ` դժբախտ ու լքված կյանք` ավարտելով այն մենության մեջ: Հաճախ եմ հանդիպել դեպքեր, երբ հանճարի կողակիցը եղել է տաղանդավոր մարդ: Այս դեպքում համատեղ կյանքի ամենամեծ ստեղծագործությունը եղել են նրանց զավակները...Իմ ուսումնասիրությունների ընթացքում ցնցվել եմ Բեթհովենի, Չապլինի, Բայրոնի նամակներից, սակայն հետևյալ նամակը համարում եմ գագաթնակետը: Այն գրվել է հանճարի կյանքի վերջին գիշերվա ընթացքում, որը դավադրաբար դատապարտվել է գլխատման ստոր տիրակալի կողմից` զրկվելով ազնվական բոլոր կոչումներից, հարստությունից և հասցեագրված է իր միակ սիրուն.. «Ահա և վերջ, ոչ մի քնքուշ բառ ու ոչ մի համբույր քո այն շուրթերին, որոնք շատ օրեր ինձ չեն էլ փնտրել, իսկ գուցե նրանց տենչանքն էր սպառվել, իսկ ես` հիմարս, փորձում էի փնտրել պատճառն կորստի...Հիմա ապշած ես...Կարծո՞ւմ էիր պիտի անեզր սիրուս մասին քեզ պատմեմ; Իմաստը կասե՞ս: Չէ որ չորացած ածուխի նման ես երեք օրից կդառնամ ոչինչ: Կդառնամ փոշի, չեմ ատի անգամ կարոտդ առ ինձ: Այն ակնթարթներն, որ իմ փոխարեն վատնեցիր պարապ անցքերի վրա: Ինձ համար կյանքը կավարտվի շուտով, կավարտվի ու վերջ, ու մի հավատա, որ մահից հետո մի այլ կյանք էլ կա: Սին է ամեն բան, և գրվածքն էլ այս սին է ու ոչինչ: Բավ է, հոգնեցի, բայց ականջիս մեջ ես արձագանքն եմ խոստումիդ լսում, երբ բորենիներն եկան տանելու ինձ դեպի խավար: Հիշո՞ւմ ես, թե ինչ դու բղավեցիր ամենավերջում; «Գուցե մտածես, որ էդպես չի, բայց կյանքից առավել ես քեզ եմ սիրում»: Այդժամ այլայլված ես քեզ պատասխան տալ չհասցրի: Բայց հիմա կասեմ` չէ չեմ հավատում, ես չեմ հավատում, ու կուզեմ, որ դու էլ չհավատաս, որ ինձ մոռանաս ու երբեք-երբեք էլ ինձ չսիրես: Գիտեմ, որ հիմա չունես ոչ մի բան` ամրոց ու կոչում, ծառա աղախին: Ու պիտի խնդրեմ դեն նետես անգամ իմ սիրո վկա միակ մատանին»:Նամակի բնօրինակը հեղինակը գրել է հետագայում կնոջը ժառանգություն թողած միակ թաշկինակի վրա` իր սեփական արյունով:
