Մարդիկ հիմնականում համաձայնվում են հայտնի իրադարձությունների վերաբերյալ ձևավորված հասարակական կարծիքի հետ։ Սակայն չի բացառվում նաև այն, որ այդ կարծիքներն իրականում խաբուսիկ են և ստեղծվել են որոշ ուժերի կողմից սեփական շահի համար։

BlogNews-ը գտել է «Տիտանիկի» նավաբեկության 3 հնարավոր վարկած, որոնք կցուցադրեն վերոհիշյալ իրադարձությունը նոր տեսանկյունից։ Սա չի նշանակում, որ այս վարկածները ճշմարիտ են, սակայն հակառակը պնդելը նույնպես անթույլատելի է։

Առաջին վարկածը պնդում է, որ իրականում խորտակված նավը «Օլիմպիկն» է, որը «Տիտանիկ» նավի ճիշտ կրկնօրինակն էր։ «Օլիմպիկը» կառուցվել է «Տիտանիկից» 1 տարի առաջ և պատահաբար վնասվել է՝ առանց նախապես ապահովագրվելու։ Վնասը ծածկելու համար «White Star Line» ընկերությունը որոշել է գաղտնի կերպով փոփոխել երկու նավերը մինչև նավարկության սկիզբը։ Ըստ նրանց ծրագրի՝ «Տիտանիկի» փոխարեն ծով պետք է դուրս գար «Ատլանտիկը», նախապես ծրագրված վայրում վնասվեր, իսկ մոտակա նավերը պետք է փրկեին ուղևորներին։ Արդյունքում ընկերությունը հեշտությամբ կստանար «Տիտանիկ» նավի ապահովագրական գումարը և կփակեր նախկինում կուտակված պարտքերը։ Սակայն դառը իրականությունը ցույց տվեց, որ «Օլիմպիկը» չափից դուրս արագ ջրասույզ եղավ՝ ոչ մի հնարավորություն չտալով մոտակա նավերին փրկարարական աշխատանքներ իրականացնել։

Երկրորդ վարկածում նշվում է, որ մինչև նավարկության սկիզբը «Տիտանիկն» արդեն վնասվել էր ներքին հրդեհի հետևանքով։ Այս պնդման համար բավականաչափ ապացույցներ կարելի է գտնել նավարկության առաջին օրն արված լուսանկարներում։ Նավի կողային հատվածում՝ ծխի պահեստի շրջանում, հստակ կարելի է տեսնել մեծ, սև հետքեր, որոնք կարող են հրդեհի հետևանքը լինել։ Ջոն Դիլլին՝ նավի հրշեջը, հարցազրույցներից մեկի ընթացքում հաստատել է, որ ածուխի 6-րդ պահեստում 5 օր շարունակ հրդեհ է եղել, ինչի մասին բոլորը լռել են «White Star Line» ընկերության հեղինակությունը պաշտպանելու համար։ Իսկ այդ հրդեհից հետո չափազանց տաքացած մետաղն արդեն չէր կարող դիմադրել այսբերգի հարվածին։

Եվ երրորդ՝ ամենախորհրդավոր ու գրավիչ վարկածի համաձայն՝ նավաբեկության պատճառը եղել է «Անհաջողության մումիան»՝ հին եգիպտական արտիֆակտ, որը պատկանում էր Բրիտանական թանգարանին և նավարկության ընթացքում Լորդ Կանտերվիլլի ուղեբեռի մասն էր։ Այս արտիֆակտն առաջին հերթին հայտնի է իր բոլոր սեփականատերերին անհաջողություններ բերելու համար։
