Ինչպես «Արմենպրես»-ի հետ զրույցում նշեց Հայ դատի Երուսաղեմի հանձնախմբի ատենապետ Հակոբ Սեւանը, եղել են բախումներ պաղեստինցիների և Իսրայելի ոստիկանության միջև:

«Այսօր իրավիճակը հանդարտ է, Երուսաղեմում մարդիկ ապրում են իրենց բնականոն կյանքով: Երեկոյան հատվածում տեղ-տեղ ցույցեր են լինում: Ասեմ, որ առանձնապես փոփոխություն չկա, իսրայելյան ուժերը շարունակում են վերահսկել իրավիճակը, իսկ թե առաջիկայում ինչ զարգացումներ կլինեն, կդժվարանամ ասել: Այս խնդիրը կա մի քանի տասնամյակ, մարդիկ վարժվել են վայրիվերումներին: Մեզ համար նորմալ իրավիճակ է, սովորել ենք, միգուցե մեկ-երկու օր գործադուլ է լինում, սակայն կյանքի սովորական ընթացքը կրկին վերականգնվում է: Ինչ վերաբերում է հայ համայնքի դիրքորոշմանը, ապա ասեմ, որ մենք երկու կողմերի հետ էլ լավ հարաբերություններ ունենք»,-ասաց նա:

Երուսաղեմում բնակվում է շուրջ 1500 հայ: Նրանք ներգրավված են տարբեր ոլորտներում, շատերն ունեն իրենց սեփական բիզնեսը, խանութը, աշխատում են հյուրանոցներում, ֆինանսական կազմակերպություններում և այլն:

ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը դեկտեմբերի 6-ին հանդես եկավ հայտարարությամբ՝ Երուսաղեմը ճանաչելով Իսրայելի մայրաքաղաք և հաստատելով ԱՄՆ դեսպանատունն այնտեղ տեղափոխելու ծրագիրը: Թրամփը նշել է, որ կատարում է նախընտրական քարոզարշավի ժամանակ տված խոստումը: ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսը 1995-ին որոշում էր կայացրել Իսրայելի մայրաքաղաքը Թել Ավիվից Երուսաղեմ տեղափոխելու վերաբերյալ, սակայն ԱՄՆ նախագահները վեց ամիսը մեկ հետաձգում էին այս որոշման իրագործումը՝ արաբական և մուսուլմանական աշխարհի միջև լարվածությունը չսրելու համար:

Հորդանան գետի արեւմտյան ափի տարբեր շրջաններում, Գազայի եւ Երուսաղեմի հատվածներում անցկացվել են բողոքի ցույցեր, որոնց հետեւանքով ավելի քան 1000 ցուցարար է տուժել: Պաղեստինցիներն իրենց դժգոհությունն են հայտնել ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի՝ Երուսաղեմը Իսրայելի մայրաքաղաք ճանաչելու եւ ԱՄՆ դեսպանատունը այնտեղ տեղափոխելու որոշման կապակցությամբ: Բողոքի ցույցերը հանգեցրել են իսրայելական ուժայինների հետ բախման:
