Երուսաղեմը որպես Իսրայելի մայրաքաղաք ճանաչելուց հետո ԱՄՆ-ը կորցրել է Մերձավոր Արևելքի խնդիրների կարգավորման միջնորդ լինելու իրավունքը. այս դերը պետք է կատարեն չեզոք երկրները: Այս մասին ասել է Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանն Իսլամական համագործակցության կազմակերպության՝ Ստամբուլում անցկացված արտակարգ գագաթնաժողովից հետո:

«Այս որոշումից հետո Ամերիկան, որն իրեն պահել է որպես հակամարտության կողմ, այլևս չի կարող միջնորդ լինել Իսրայելի և Պաղեստինի միջև: Մենք կպնդենք սա: Անհրաժեշտության դեպքում կբարձրացնենք այս հարցը ՄԱԿ-ում: Եթե խաղաղ գործընթացը շարունակվի, ուրեմն միջնորդներ պետք է լինեն շահ չունեցող չեզոք երկրները», - Էրդողանի խոսքն է մեջբերում NTV հեռուստաալիքը։

Նա նշել է, որ ԱՄՆ-ի որոշումը Երուսաղեմի վերաբերյալ «ոչ մի նշանակություն չունի և ձեռնտու է ֆանատիկոսներին», և կոչ արել Թրամփին չեղարկել այն:

«Մինչև ԱՄՆ-ը չանի դա, մենք կշարունակենք մեր պայքարը, կպաշտպանենք Պաղեստինը: Թրամփ, դու կանգնա՞ծ ես Իսրայելի հետևում: Այնտեղ բռնագրավում է, ահաբեկչություն, ինչո՞ւ ես պաշտպանում դա: Իսրայելը շարունակում է քայլ առ քայլ յուրացնել Պաղեստինի տարածքը: Մենք որպես մահմեդականներ կանենք ամեն ինչ Պաղեստինի տարածքն ամրապնդելու համար: Մենք չենք հրաժարվի ինքնիշխան Պաղեստինի պահանջից 1967 թվականի սահմաններում: Այսուհետ Արևելյան Երուսաղեմը պաղեստինական կլինի», - ասել է Էրդողանը:
