Եվա Հոլանդն ու Մայք Սեթլսը հանդիպել են, երբ 15 տարեկան էին։ Դրանից հետո երիտասարդները երբեք չեն բաժանվել։ Դա սեր էր առաջին հայացքից։ Մի քանի տարի անց Մայքն ու Եվան ամուսնացան։ Նրանք երկու երեխա ունեցան՝ Լուկասն ու Ավեն։ Մայքը սիրում էր իր ընտանիքն ամեն ինչից շատ։

Նրանց կյանքի մղձավանջը սկսվեց սովորական ատամի ցավից։ Մի քանի օր դիմանալուց հետո Մայքը սկսեց ցավազրկող հաբեր ընդունել։

Բայց, դժբախտաբար, մի քանի անգամից հետո դա սովորություն դարձավ. նա դեղ էր խմում նույնիսկ ամենաչնչին ցավի դեպքում։ Որոշ ժամանակ անց առանց դրանց նա չէր կարողանում ապրել։ Մայքը՝ սիրող ամուսինն ու հայրը, աստիճանաբար անցավ հերոինի։

Ամիսներ անց նա կանգ է առնում ու վերադառնում իր սովորական կյանքին։ Բայց ատամի հերթական ցավի ժամանակ ամեն բան սկսվում է նորից։ Մայքը համոզում է կնոջը, որ ամեն ինչ կարգին է ու վերահսկողության տակ՝ նորից չկարողանալով զսպել իրեն հաջորդ օրը։ Այս անգամ ամեն բան վերջացած էր։ Կինն ու երեխաները նրան գտան մահացած։ Թմրանյութերը նրան զրկեցին կյանքից։

 

Եվան հրապարակում է լուսանկար Ֆեյսբուքում, որում նա ու երեխաները ժպտում են Մայքի դագաղի կողքին կանգնած։ Բնականաբար, նրանք սգի մեջ էին, բայց Եվան ուզում էր, որ լուսանկարը տեսնի, ինչքան հնարավոր է, շատ մարդ։ «Սառը ու դաժան ճշմարտություն. հերոինը սպանում է»։ Նա հասկանում էր, որ շփոթված մարդիկ չեն կարող այդ նկարի կողքով անտարբեր անցնել։
