Թեկենդամա ջրվեժի մոտակայքում գտնվող այս թանգարանը միշտ եղել է մարդկանց ուշադրության կենտրոնում: Մարդիկ սկսել են լեգենդներ հորինել, իբր այս լքված թանգարանը շրջապատված է հոգիներով: Թեկենդամայի մշակույթի թանգարանը գտնվում է Կոլումբիայում: Նախկինում այս վայրը ծառայել է, որպես հյուրանոց, հայտնի է այս անունով՝ «El Hotel del Salto»:

1920 թվականին ճարտարապետ Կարլոս Արտուրո Տապինան սկսել է թանգարանի կառուցապատումը, Կոլումբիայի մայրաքաղաքից 30կմ հեռավորության վրա: 1927 թվականին ավարտվել է շինարարությունը:

1950 թվականին 8 հարկանի կառույցը ծառայել է որպես հյուրանոց: Սակայն հյուրանոցը «ծաղկեց»  20-րդ դարի սկզբին, երբ հարուստ կոլումբացիները գալիս էին այստեղ՝ տեսնելու գեղատեսիլ ջրվեժը:

1979 թվականին հարուստ գործարար Ռոբերտո Արիասը գնեց այս շենքը և այն դարձրեց ռեստորանահյուրանոցային համալիր: 1990-ականներին այստեղ եղել էր մարդասպանություն, որն էլ պատճառ դարձավ մտածելու, որ հյուրանոցը բնակեցված է հոգիներով:

2000 թվականին հյուրանոցային համալիրը դադարեց գործել և դարձավ Թեկեդամայի պատմամշակութային թանգարան: «Ecological Farm Foundation of Porvenir» ֆոնդը գնեց նախկին հյուրանոցը և այն դարձրեց թանգարան:

Թանգարանի պաշտոնական բացումը տեղի ունեցավ 2009 թվականին  «Cavernas, Ecosistemas del Mundo Subterráneo» անվամբ: 

2013 թվականին այստեղ ցուցադրվել է բժիշկ Ֆրանսուա Անտոմարկի անատոմիական լուսանկարները:
