Սյունիքի մարզ կատարած այցի շրջանակում վարչապետ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը եղել է Մեղրի ազատ տնտեսական գոտում: Վարչապետը շրջայց է կատարել գոտու տարածքով, ծանոթացել այստեղ ստեղծված ենթակառուցվածքային պայմաններին և առաջիկայում նախատեսվող աշխատանքներին: Նշվել է, որ գոտու կառուցման առաջին փուլով ստեղծվել են նվազագույն անհրաժեշտ ենթակառուցվածքներ և նախապայմաններ՝ ԱՏԳ աշխատանքները մեկնարկելու և ԱՏԳ-ում գործունեություն ծավալելու հետաքրքրություն ունեցող ընկերությունների հետ տեղում գործունեությունը կազմակերպելու համար: Նշվել է, որ այժմ կան արտերկրյա մի քանի ընկերություններ, որոնք հայտ են ներկայացրել գոտում գործունեություն ծավալելու համար: Տեղեկացվել է նաև ԱՏԳ-ն ունի տարածքն ընդլայնելու խնդիր, ինչի հետ կապված ընթանում են համապատասխան քննարկումներ: Ակնկալվում է, որ Իրանի հետ սահմանակից տարածքում ստեղծվող ազատ տնտեսական գոտին, հաշվի առնելով աշխարհագրական դիրքը, առևտրային և լոգիստիկ հնարավորությունները, կարող է կամուրջ դառնալ Իրանի, ԵԱՏՄ և ԵՄ երկրների միջև։

Ինչպես տեղեկացրին ՀՀ կառավարության տեղեկատվության և հասարակայնության հետ կապերի վարչությունից, ապա, կառավարության ղեկավարը եղել է Սյունիքի տարածաշրջանային մաքսատան «Մեղրի» մաքսային կետում: Պատասխանատուները Նիկոլ Փաշինյանին են ներկայացրել մաքսատան աշխատանքը ու մատուցվող ծառայությունները. զեկուցվել է, որ մաքսատունը գործում է 24-ժամյա ռեժիմով, քաղաքացիների և տնտեսվարող սուբյեկտների անցումը մաքսակետով կազմակերպվում է սեղմ ժամկետներում: Վարչապետը մաքսատան տարածքում նկատել է մի քանի խնդիրներ և հանձնարարել սեղմ ժամկետներում վերացնել դրանք: Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը զրուցել է նաև մաքսատանը ապրանքներ մաքսազերծող քաղաքացիների հետ՝ հետաքրքրվել, թե ինչ խնդիրների են բախվում: Նրանք գոհունակություն են հայտնել մատուցվող ծառայություններից և նշել, որ մաքսազերծման աշխատանքների տևողությունը զգալիորեն կրճատվել է:

Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը հանձնարարել է պատասխանատուներին շարունակել  մաքսակետում մատուցվող ծառայությունների բարելավման աշխատանքները՝ ուղևորափոխադրումների և բեռնափոխադրումների համար անհրաժեշտ ժամանակահատվածը կրճատելու, սահմանահատումն առավել սահուն և արագ կազմակերպելու և մատուցվող ծառայությունների որակը բարձրացնելու ուղղությամբ: 

Նիկոլ Փաշինյանն այցելել է նաև Մեղրիի բժշկական կենտրոն, ծանոթացել այստեղ ստեղծված պայմաններին ու մատուցվող ծառայություններին:
