Վարչապետ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը ՆԱՏՕ-ի կենտրոնակայանում հանդիպել է Լատվիայի Հանրապետության նախագահ Ռայմոնդս Վեյոնիսի հետ:

Ինչպես «Արմենպրես»-ին տեղեկացրին ՀՀ կառավարության տեղեկատվության և հասարակայնության հետ կապերի վարչությունից, hանդիպման ընթացքում քննարկվել են հայ-լատվիական հարաբերությունների հետագա զարգացմանն ու խորացմանը վերաբերող հարցեր: Զրուցակիցներն անդրադարձ են կատարել տնտեսական ոլորտում փոխգործակցության ընդլայնման հնարավորություններին:

Վարչապետ Փաշինյանը կարևորել է Հայաստանում տեղի ունեցող բարեփոխումների ճանապարհին Լատվիայի հետ փորձի փոխանակումը: «Հուսով ենք, որ Հայաստանում տեղի ունեցած ժողովրդավարական իրադարձությունները կնպաստեն տարածաշրջանում կայունության ապահովմանը և խաղաղության հաստատմանը»,- ասել է Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը: ՀՀ վարչապետն ընդգծել է, որ Հայաստանը հավա­տարիմ է Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահողների հովանու ներքո իրականացվող բանակ­ցային գործընթացին:

Լատվիայի Նախագահը շնորհավորել է ՀՀ վարչապետին ընտրվելու կապակցությամբ և նշել, որ Լատվիայում  մոտիկից հետևել են Հայաստանում տեղի ունեցող ներքաղաքական իրադարձություններին և բարձր գնահատել այն հանգամանքը, որ գործընթացը կրել է խաղաղ և ժողովրդավարական բնույթ։ Ռայմոնդս Վեյոնիսն կարևորել է Լատվիայի հայ համայնքի դերը երկրի մշակութային և տնտեսական կյանքում, և նշել, որ այն հանդիսանում է լատվիական հասարակության արժեքավոր և անբաժանելի մասը: 

Վարչապետն ընդգծել է, որ ՀՀ կառավարության քայլերն ուղղված են ժողովրդավարության ամրապնդմանը, մարդու իրավունքների և հիմնարար ազատությունների առաջ մղմանը, կոռուպցիայի դեմ պայքարին, անկախ դատական համակարգի կայացմանը: Գործադիրի ղեկավարը տեղեկացրել է, որ ՀՀ իշխանությունները մտադիր են անցկացնել ազատ, արդար և թափանցիկ ընտրություններ և հավելել, որ Հայաստանը Լատվիային ընդունում է որպես բարեկամ պետություն և հույսով է, որ հայաստանյան ժողովրդավարական փոփոխություններն ավելի մոտ կդարձնեն երկու երկրները:

Զրուցակիցները կարևորել են նաև համագործակցությունը ՀՀ-ԵՄ փոխգործակցության, մասնավորապես, Համապարփակ և ընդլայնված համագործակցության համաձայնագրի շրջանակում: Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը շնորհակալություն է հայտնել լատվիական կողմին՝ վերը նշված համաձայնագիրն առաջիններից մեկը վավերացնելու համար:
