1. Ամերիկյան դոլարն իրենից ներկայացնում է թղթադրամ, որը թողարկվում է ԱՄՆ մասնավոր կառույցի կողմից, որը կոչվում է Դաշնային պահուստների համակարգ: Երբ գնորդները դոլար են գնում, դրանով նրանք հիմք են դնում արժույթի ստեղծման, որը թողարկում է վերոնշյալ ԴՊՀ-ն: Փաստացիորեն դոլարը թղթի կտոր է նկարներով, սակայն այն, ինչպես յուրաքանչյուր տարադրամ, արժեք է ունի:

2. Ամենաարժեքավոր արժութային միավորը, որը երբևէ տպվել է Ամերիկայում, 100 հզ. դոլարն էր: Այս թղթադրամի թողարկումն իրականացվում էր մինչ 1945 թ., սաակայն այն պաշտոնապես արգելեց Ռիչարդ Նիքսոնը 1969-ին: Նա նաև արգելեց այն բոլոր թղթադրմաների թողարկումը, որոնց արժեքը գերազանցում էր 100 ԱՄՆ դոլարը:

3. 1960-ին Ամերիկայում առաջին անգամ թղթադրամներ թողարկեցին Մասաչուսեթսի իշխանությունները: Մասաչուսեթսն այն ժամանակ գաղութ էր, սակայն այսօր օգտագործելի են միայն այն թղթադրամները, որոնք թողարկում է ԴՊՀ-ն:

4. 1929-ին ընդունվեց ստանդարտ առ այն, թե ինչ տեսք պետք է ունենա ամերիկյան դոլարը: Ըստ այդ ստանդարտի թղթադրամի առաջնամասում պետք է դիմանկար պատկերվի, իսկ հակառակ կողմում՝ հուշարձաններ ու խորհրդանշաններ:

5. Ամերիկյան դոլարը ռազմական արժույթ է: Առաջին անգամ թղթադրամները շրջանառության մեջ մտան ԱՄՆ-ում Քաղաքացիական պատերազմի ժամանակ: Նպատակը պատերազմի ժամանակ առաջացած ծախսերը հոգալն էր, սակայն միջոցները չբավականացրին, քանի որ մարդիկ պահում էին գումարն ու չէին թողարկում այն շրջանառության համար:

6. Ազատ շրջանառության մեջ գտնվող ամերիկյան դոլար թղթադրմաների գրեթե 50 տոկոսը թողարկվել են 1 դոլարի տեսքով:

7. Հայտարարությունն այն մասին, որ դեմ է բնակչության բաժանմանը՝ ըստ սեռի, չի համապատասխանում իրականությանը: Պատմության մեջ միայն մեկ անգամ ամերիկյան թղթադրամի առաջնամասում կնոջ դիմանկար է պատկերվել: 1886-ին Մարթա Վաշինգտոնը հայտնվեց 1 ԱՄՆ դոլարի երեսին:

8. Հայտնի է մի փաստ, ըստ որի՝ աշխարհում շրջանառության մեջ գտնվող ամերիկյան դոլարի թղթադրամների 97 տոկոսը կոկաինի հետքեր են պարունակում իրենց վրա, քանի որ ողջ աշխարհում թմրավաճառքն առանց դոլարի գործածման չի կայանում:

9. Դոլարը սովարական թղթից չի պատրաստվում. այն կազմված է 20 տոկոս վուշի թելից և 75 տոկոս բամբակից: Դրա կանաչ գույնի ներկի բանաձև մինչ օրս գաղտնիք է, սակայն այդ ներկը 1854-ին հայտնաբերել է Քրիստափոր Տեր-Սերոբյանը:

10. Կախված նրանից, թե յուրաքանչյուր արժեքի թղթադրամ միջինում ինչքան է օգտագործվում մարդկանց կողմից, դրանք հատուկ «պիտանելիության ժամկետներ» ունեն: Այսպես, 1 դոլարը ծառայում է 22 ամիս, 5 դոլարը՝ 24 ամիս, 10 դոլարը՝ 18 ամիս, 20 դոլարը՝ 25 ամիս, 50 դոլարը՝ 55 ամիս, իսկ 100 դոլարանոց թղթադրամը շրջանառության մեջ կարող է գտնվել 5 տարի շարունակ:

11. 2 դոլարանոց թղթադրամ վերջին անգամ թողարկվել է 2003 թվականին:

12. Դոլարի թողարկման ողջ պատմության ընթացքում չի եղել դեպք, երբ թղթադրամի առաջամասում աֆրոամերիկացու դիմանկար տպվի, չնայած այն բանին, որ ԱՄՆ-ն քարոզում է ռասսայական հավասարություն:
