Նոր Զելանդիայի Հայ դատի հանձնախումբը կոչ է արել երկրի վարչապետ Ջասինդա Արդերնին փոխել Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման հարցում կառավարության դիրքորոշումը, ինչպես նաև խուսափել ավելի վաղ արտահայտած կարծիքից առ այն, որ Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցը պետք է լուծվի Հայաստանի և Թուրքիայի միջև: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այդ մասին հայտնում է հանձնախմբի կայքը:

«Նոր Զելանդիայի հայերը մտահոգված են Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցով կառավարության դիրքորոշմամբ: Վարչապետի դիրքորոշումն այն է, որ Նոր Զելանդիան չպետք է 1915 թվականի դեպքերն անվանի «ցեղասպանություն», և պետք է այդ հարցը թողնի երկու կողմերի դիտարկմանը: Այդ դիրքորոշումը միայն նպաստում է թուրքական բռնապետության քաղաքականությանը»,- ասված է հաղորդագրությունում:

Նշվում է նաև, որ Նոր Զելանդիայի հայերը կշարունակեն զբաղվել երկրի խորհրդարանի կողմից Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման լոբբինգով և ջանքեր գործադրել՝ 1915 թվականի դեպքերի մասին հասարակության և երկրի կառավարության իրազեկությունը բարձրացնելու նպատակով:

Վելինգթոնում մամուլի ասուլիսի ժամանակ Նոր Զելանդիայի վարչապետ Ջասինդա Արդերնըհայտարարել էր, որ երկիրը միշտ ճանաչել է 1915 թվականի ողբերգական դեպքերը, սակայնանհրաժեշտ է խուսափել այդ իրադարձությունների մասին կոնկրետ տերմինաբանության(«ցեղասպանություն» բառը) օգտագործումից և այդ հարցը թողնել կոնֆլիկտի անմիջականկողմերի դիտարկմանը: Ավելի վաղ հաղորդվել է, որ Նոր Զելանդիայի «Կանաչների» կուսակցությունը կոչ է արել երկրի խորհրդարանին սկսել Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչմանգործընթացը: Նախաձեռնության հեղինակներից մեկը Նոր Զելանդիայի խորհրդարանի«Կանաչների» կուսակցությունից պատգամավոր Հարետ Հյուգն է: Նա նշել է, որ մտադիր էօրինագիծ ներկայացնել ցեղասպանության ճանաչման մասին:
