Մարդիկ երկար ժամանակ ապրել են առանց էլեկտրաէներգիայի և պառկել են քնելու մթնելուն պես: Իրականում սա շատ առողջարար սովորություն է, որի մասին մարդիկ ներկայումս մոռացել են, մինչդեռ էլեկտրական սարքերի մշտական գործածությունն առաջացնում է նյարդային համակարգի խանգարումներ ու առողջական խնդիրներ, սակայն շատերն օրվա մեծ մասն անց են կացնում համակարգչի կամ հեռուստացույցի առջև:

Ուսումնասիրությունները ցույց են տվել, որ գիշերվա ժամերին արհեստական լույսի գործածության հետևանքով խանգարվում է մելատոնինի՝ քնի ցիկլերը կարգավորող հիմնական հորմոնի արտադրությունը: Բնական մթությունը խթանում է այս հորմոնի արտադրությունը և պաշտպանում օրգանիզմի բջիջները վնասվածքներից: Այլ կերպ ասած՝ մարդու մարմինն ունի մթության կարիք, որպեսզի կարողանա մելատոնին արտադրել:

Այս հորմոնը շատ կարևոր է մարդու առողջության համար: Դրա ոչ բավարար քանակության հետևանքով բարձրանում է քաղցկեղի, 2-րդ տիպի շաքարային դիաբետի, ճարպակալման, սրտի հիվանդությունների, նյութափոխանակության խանգարման (մետաբոլիկ համախտանիշ) ու իմունային համակարգի թուլացման հավանականությունը: Բավարար քանակությամբ մելատոնինն ամրապնդում է իմունային համակարգը և ստեղծում է հզոր հակաօքսիդանտներ, որոնք դանդաղեցնում են ծերացման գործընթացները:

Բացի այդ՝ հարկ է հիշել, որ քնելուց առաջ բջջային հեռախոս, համակարգիչ կամ նմանատիպ այլ սարքեր օգտագործելը կարող է դառնալ նաև տեսողության հետ կապված խնդիրների առաջացման պատճառ: Բանն այն է, որ այդ սարքերի արձակած արհեստական լույսը շատ վնասակար է աչքերի ցանցաթաղանթի համար և կարող է լուրջ խնդիրներ առաջացնել հատկապես գիշերվա ժամերին օգտագործելու դեպքում: Այդ լույսը նպաստում է անգամ կատարակտի զարգացմանը:

Բացի այդ՝ բժիշկներն արդեն պարզել են, որ կա ակնհայտ կապ էլեկտրական սարքերի արձակած լույսի և քաղցկեղի տարբեր տեսակների, շաքարային դիաբետի, սրտանոթային հիվանդությունների ու ճարպակալման միջև, ուստի առողջությունը պահպանելու և նման լուրջ խնդիրներից խուսափելու համար խորհուրդ է տրվում շուտ պառկել քնելու և քնելուց առաջ հնարավորինս քիչ օգտագործել էլեկտրական սարքեր:
