ՆԱՏՕ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Յենս Ստոլտենբերգը մեկնաբանել է առանձին համաեվրոպական բանակ ստեղծելու նախաձեռնությունը, որի մասին ավելի վաղ խոսել էր Ֆրանսիայի նախագահ Էմանուել Մակրոնը:

Ինչպես գրում է «ՌԻԱ Նովոստի»գործակալությունը, Ստոլտենբերգը նշել է, որ իր կարծիքով անհնարին է պատկերացնել Եվրոպայի պաշտպանությունն առանց այնպիսի երկրների, ինչպիսիք են Թուրքիան, ԱՄՆ-ը, Կանադան կամ Նորվեգիան, հետևաբար համաեվրոպական բանակը երբեք չի կարողանա փոխարինել Հյուսիսատլանտյան դաշինքին:

«Մենք պետք է պատկերացնենք եվրոպական պաշտպանության հզորացումը ՆԱՏՕ-ի շրջանակներում: Իրականությունն այն է, որ մեզ պետք է մեկ հզոր միասնական կառուցվածք», - ասել է դաշինքի գլխավոր քարտուղարը:

Ստոլտենբերգը նաև ընդգծել է, որ Եվրամիության անդամ երկրները կենտրոնական դեր են խաղում Եվրոպայի պաշտպանության ապահովման մեջ, և նա ողջունում է նրանց ջանքերը պաշտպանության ոլորտում, սակայն առանձին հրամանատարական կառույցների ստեղծումն իրենք չեն ողջունում:
