Հայաստանում հունվարի 8-ին նշվում է Ոսկրածուծի դոնորի օրը: Ժամանակակից աշխարհում դոնորների դերը դժվար է թերագնահատել: Մարդկանցից շատերի համար ոսկրածուծի փոխպատվաստումը դառնում է ապրելու միակ հնարավորությունը որոշակի հիվանդությունների հայտնաբերման դեպքում (արյունաբանական, ուռուցքային եւ այլն): Սակայն համատեղելի գենոտիպերի որոնման գործընթացը լրջորեն բարդացնում է միջամտությունը՝ համատեղելի դոնորի որոնումը վերածելով երկարատեւ գործընթացի: Ընդ որում՝ հաճախ այնպիսի իրավիճակ է ստեղծվում, որ որոնմանը հատկացված ժամանակը աղետալիորեն չի բավականացնում՝ կապված հիվանդության պրոգրեսիվ բնույթի հետ:

Հենց այս պատճառով դոնորությանը՝ որպես սոցիալապես պատասխանատու երեւույթի հատուկ ուշադրություն է դարձվում տարբեր երկրների առողջապահության մարմինների կողմից: Ամեն տարի սեպտեմբերի երրորդ շաբաթ օրը նշվում է Ոսկրածուծի դոնորների համաշխարհային օրը:

Հայաստանում, բացի այդ հիշարժան օրից, համանման տոնը նշվում է առանձին պետության շրջանակում: Այն նշվում է հունվարի 8-ին եւ նվիրված է Երեւանում «Ոսկրածուծի դոնորների հայկական գրանցամատյան» բարեգործական հիմնադրամի ստեղծման օրվան: Այդ իրադարձությունը տեղի է ունեցել 2000 թվականին: Այդ պահից սկսած Հայաստանի ոսկրածուծի դոնորների գրանցամատյանը սկսել է համալրվել: Ամեն տարի Հայկական գրանցամատյանի դոնորների թիվը մեծանում է:

Հունվարի 8-ի տոնակատարությանն ավանդաբար անցկացվում են դոնորական արյուն հանձնելու ակցիաներ: Գենոտիպերի համընկնելու գործոնն անչափ փոքր է, բժշկական փորձագետների հաշվարկներով՝ կազմում է 1-ը 10 հազարին: Ընդարձակ Եվրոպական գրանցամատյանում հայտի եւ որոնման արժեքը շատ բարձր է, ինչը եւս մեկ ավելորդ անգամ Ազգային գրանցամատյանի եւ բժշկական հիմնադրամների, այդ թվում Հայաստանի երեխաների հիմնադրամի ղեկավարությանը պարտավորեցնում է բնակչության շրջանում կատարել լուսաբանող գործունեություն, արյուն հանձնելու եւ Ոսկրածուծի դոնորների հայկական գրանցամատյան մտնելու քարոզչություն: Առավել եւս, որ դոնոր կարող է դառնալ ամենեւին էլ ոչ ամեն մարդ: Կան տարիքի եւ առողջական վիճակի որոշակի սահմանափակումներ: Ավելին՝ բուն դոնորությունը բացառապես կամավոր կամարտահայտություն է: Հենց այսպիսի լուսաբանող ուղղվածության միջոցառումներ են անցկացվում ամբողջ երկրում: Դրանց մասնակցում են երկրի քաղաքական գործիչները, որոնք անտարբեր չեն ծանր հիվանդություններով տառապող համաքաղաքացիների ճակատագրի հանդեպ:

Ոսկրածուծի դոնորների հայկական գրանցամատյանի գործունեությունը ոչ միան ուղղակի նպաստում է փոխպատվաստաբանության զարգացմանը, այլեւ լուծում է սոցիալական կողմնորոշվածության խնդիր. այն ուղղված է կյանքի փրկությանը եւ հիվանդ մարդկանց հույս է պարգեւում: Այլ երկրների գրանցամատյանների հետ համագործակցությամբ Հայկական գրանցամատյանը տրամադրում է համապատասխանող դոնորի որոնման ավելի լայն հնարավորություններ, ինչպես նաեւ զգալիորեն նվազեցնում է միջամտության արժեքը:
