Մեքենայորեն շապիկի կոճակները կոճկելով, մենք չենք էլ մտածում, թե ինչու են դրանք գտնվում հենց այս կողմում: Իսկ չէ՞ որ տղամարդկանց վերնաշապիկի կոճակները տեղակայված են աջ կողմում, կանանց վերնաշապիկինը`ձախ կողմում: Դրա համար կա՞ որևէ բացատրություն:

 
 

Պարզվում է, որ այս թեմայի շուրջ կա մի քանի տեսություն, որոնցից յուրաքանչյուրը գոյություն ունենալու իրավունք ունի: Դրանցից մեկը հղում է տալիս մեզ այն ժամանակներին, երբ Նապոլեոն Բոնապարտի ժողովրդականությունը արտացոլվում էր նորաձևության մեջ. բոլորն ուզում էին ընդօրինակել մեծ հրամանատարին՝ զինվորական համազգեստի մեջ աջ ձեռքը պահելու ձևով, ինչը հնարավոր է միայն այն դեպքում, եթե կան աջ կողմում գտնվող կոճակներ:

Կանայք այս միտումից հետ չէին մնում, բայց նրանց որոշեցին զերծ պահել դրանից և հրամայեցին, որ նրանց համար կոճակները փոխեն մյուս կողմ:

Երրորդ վարկածը՝ սպասուհիներին, որոնք օգնում էին ազնվական տիկնանց հագնվել, անհարմար էր կոճկել աջ կողմում գտնվող կոճակները, քանի որ օգնականները հիմնականում աջլիկ էին: Երբ տեղափոխեցին ձախ կողմ, գործընթացը զգալիորեն արագացավ:

Ի դեպ, դարերի ընթացքում տղամարդկանց և կանանց հագուստի տարրերը պարբերաբար փոխանցվում էին իրար մեջ:
