Ասում են՝ աշխարհում կատարված բազմաթիվ հետազոտություններ ցույց են տվել, որ եթե մի օր հանկարծ վերանան մոլորակի բոլոր մեղուները, ապա մարդկությունը ևս կվերանա, քանի որ աշխարհում ամեն բան շղթայաձև կապի մեջ է մյուսի հետ։

Մեղուներին վտանգից պաշտպանելու համար էլ ամերիկացի Դևիդ Գլովերին մի բնակիչ էր զանգել՝ խնդրելով այցելել իրեն։

Մեղվաբույծ Դևիդը շտապել էր այնտեղ, ուր տան բնակիչները բողոքել էին, թե շենքի պատի մեջ կարծես մեղուներ են բնակվում, քանի որ հաճախ են այնտեղից դուրս գալիս, իսկ երեխաները, տեսնելով նրանց, խուճապահար փախչում են։

«Առաջին բանը, որ ցանկանում էի իմանալ, այն էր՝ արդյոք պատի մեջ ապրող մեղուները ընտանի (մեղր տվող) մեղունե՞ր են։ Բարեբախտաբար, հենց այդպես էլ կար»,- պատմել է Դևիդը։

Նա իր հետ ջերմային տեսախցիկ էլ ուներ, որի միջոցով կարողացավ հասկանալ՝ պատի կոնկրետ որ մասում են թաքնվում։

Դևիդը շատ մեծ զգուշությամբ սկսեց հեռացնել տան պատին ամրացված քարի կտորները, իսկ մինչ այդ նա հատուկ նյութով պատել էր տարածքը, որպեսզի մեղուները հանկարծ չհարձակվեն։

Ամեն քարը հանելիս Դևիդն ապշանք էր ապրում․ ինչպե՞ս կարող էին այդքան փոքր էակներն այսքան կարճ ժամանակում այդքան փոքր տարածության մեջ այդքան շատ բնական մեղր պատրաստել։ Բայց փաստը մնում էր փաստ։
