Կյանքի 75-րդ տարում ապրիլի 26-ին կյանքից հեռացել է Երևանի պետական համալսարանի ֆիզիկայի ֆակուլտետի օպտիկայի ամբիոնի պրոֆեսոր, ֆիզիկա-մաթեմատիկական գիտությունների դոկտոր, ՀՀ ԳԱԱ թղթակից անդամ Համլետ Սուրենի Կարայանը։

Համլետ Կարայանը ծնվել է 1945թ Տավուշի մարզի Աչաջուր գյուղում։ 1968թ ավարտել է Երևանի պետական համալսարանի ֆիզիկայի ֆակուլտետը՝ «Կիսահաղորդիչների և դիէլեկտրիկների ֆիզիկա» մասնագիտությամբ: Նույն տարում ընդունվել է ՀԽՍՀ ԳԱ Ռադիոֆիզիկայի և Էլեկտրոնիկայի ինստիտուտի ասպիրանտուրան, սակայն անմիջապես զորակոչվել է երկամյա ծառայության Խորհրդային բանակում՝ որպես ռադիոդասակի, ապա և կապի վաշտի հրամանատար: 1970թ. զորացրվելով` սկսել է գիտահետազոտական աշխատանքներ Ռադիոֆիզիկայի և Էլեկտրոնիկայի ինստիտուտում: 1976թ պաշտպանել է թեկնածուական, իսկ 1986թ՝ դոկտորական ատենախոսություններ։

1988թ. Համլետ Կարայանը աշխատանքի է անցել ԵՊՀ-ում և երկար տարիներ զբաղեցրել ֆիզիկայի ֆակուլտետի օպտիկայի ամբիոնի պրոֆեսորի պաշտոնը:

Համլետ Կարայանը՝ գործունեությունը գիտական և մանկավարժական գործունեությունները զուգակցելու դասական օրինակ է։ Կիսահաղորդիչների ֆիզիկայի և էլեկտրոնիկայի բնագավառում նրա ուսումնասիրությունները արմատական դեր են խաղացել նոր ուղղությունների զարգացման համար, հրատարակել է հարյուրից ավելի գիտական աշխատանքներ, ստացել է 5 արտոնագիր, մասնակցել է բազմաթիվ միջազգային գիտաժողովների։ Դրան զուգահեռ՝ Կարայանը ղեկավարել է բազմաթիվ թեկնածուական և դոկտորական ատենախոսություններ, կազմակերպել է համամիութենական գիտաժողովներ, 2 համամիութենական միջճյուղային լաբորատորիաներ, աջակցել Իջևանի քոլեջ-համալսարանի և ԵՊՀ Իջևանի մասնաճյուղի հիմնադրմանը, որոնք համապատասխանաբար ղեկավարել է 1991-1994 և 1994-1996 թվականներին։ Ստեղծել է բազմարժեք պոլիստորային էլեկտրոնիկայի գիտական դպրոցը:

Այսօր Համլետ Սուրենի Կարայանի ընտանիքը, բարեկամները, աշակերտներն ու ընկերները հրաժեշտ են տալիս մեծ ուսուցչի, գիտական ուղղության հիմնադրի և փայլուն անձնավորությանը, բայց նրա հոգին, նրա ազնվությունը, հյուրասիրությունը, հմայքը և հումորի զգացումը կշարունակեն գոյատևել նրան ճանաչողների մոտ: Հռչակավոր գիտնականի, անսպառ եռանդով լեցուն և հայրենասեր մարդու հիշատակը միշտ կլուսավորի և կջերմացնի բոլոր նրանց հոգիները, ովքեր ճանաչել ու սիրել են նրան:
