Բրիտանացի բժիշկ փորձագետներն ուսումնասիրում են կորոնավիրուսային պանդեմիայի և ծանր բորբոքային հիվանդությունների բռնկման հնարավոր կապը երեխաների մոտ, ովքեր հիվանդանոցներ են գնում բարձր ջերմությամբ: Բրիտանիայի բժիշկները հայտնում են, որ մինչև 9 տարեկան երեխաների մոտ հայտնաբերվել են Կավասակի հիվանդության ծանր դեպքեր, որոնք ավելի տարածված են Ասիայի մասերում:

Կավասակի հիվանդությունը ազդում է միջին և փոքր զարկերակների վրա: Դրսևորվում է տենդով, մաշկի լորձաթաղանթի փոփոխություններով և զարկերակների վնասմամբ, երբեմն՝ թրոմբոզի առաջացմամբ: 

Առողջապահության նախարար Մեթ Հանկոկը երկուշաբթի օրը ճեպազրույցի ժամանակ ասել է, որ ինքը «շատ անհանգստացած է», և որ բժշկական հաստատություններն ուշադիր ուսումնասիրում են խնդիրը:

Անգլիայի գլխավոր բժիշկ Ստեֆան Պաուիսը հայտնել է, որ տեղյակ է Կավասակի սինդրոմի նման ախտանիշներով ծանր հիվանդ երեխաների մասին լուրերին, բայց շեշտել է, որ դեռ վաղ է կորոնավիրուսների հետ փոխհարաբերությունները որոշելու համար:

«Ընդ որում, անցած մեկ ամսվա ընթացքում իտալական Բերգամոյի հիվանդանոցում գրանցվել է անոթային սուր բորբոքման ավելի քան 20 դեպք, ինչը վեց անգամ ավելի է, քան սպասում եք»,- ասում է մանկաբույժ Մատեո Չուֆրեդան, ով սրտաբան է: Ըստ նրա՝ անոթային բորբոքում ունեցող միայն մի քանի երեխաներ են նոր կորոնավիրուսի դրական արդյունք ունեցել:

Չուֆրեդան իր գործընկերներին հորդորել է փաստաթղթավորել յուրաքանչյուր նման դեպք՝ պարզելու, թե արդյոք կա հարաբերակցություն Կավասակի հիվանդության և COVID-19-ի միջև:

Կավասակի հիվանդությունը 16 տարի առաջ կապվել է մեկ այլ հայտնի կորոնավիրուսի հետ, չնայած ոչ մի ապացույց չի ստացվել: Ուսումնասիրությունն իրականացվել է այն բանից հետո, երբ կորոնավիրուսը, որը հայտնի է որպես NL63, Կավասակի հիվանդության ախտանիշներով հայտնաբերվել է երեխայի մոտ 2004 թվականին:
