Գյումրին Նիկոլի սկիզբն էր, իսկ երեկ դարձավ նրա վերջի սկիզբը: Երեք տարի առաջ Նիկոլը Գյումրիից սկսեց քայլել, իսկ երեկ գյումրեցիները մերժեցին վիժվածքին: Ես չգիտեմ, թե «հայրաքաղաքն» ում կընտրի, բայց որ Նիկոլին մերժել է, դա ակնհայտ երևաց երեկվա դատարկ հրապարակից։

Ընտրարշավի հենց սկզբից կապիտուլյանտն ընտրել էր մարզեր, որտեղ համեմատաբար տանելի վարկանիշ ունի՝ գոնե ԱԱԾ-ն այդպես էր իրեն զեկուցել։ Եվ նրան թվաց, թե այս մարզերում կստանա զանգվածային պաշտանմունքի տեսարաններ, լսարան, որը կողջունի իր գոռգոռոցը, կճղճղա իր հետ միասին, կթելադրի ընտրարշավի տրամադրությունը։ Այդ իմաստով ծրագրված եռօրյա տրիումֆը իր գագաթին պիտի հասներ հենց Գյումրիի հրապարակում։ Բայց դարձավ տոտալ ֆիասկո։

Նիկոլի հիստերիկ վիճակը ուղիղ համեմատական է նրա դուրս տված հիմարությունների քանակին։ Որքան գործերը վատ են, այնքան ավելի շատ հիմարություններ է դուրս տալու՝ «շինելու», ավիրելու, քաղաքացիական պատերազմ սկսելու կամ վենդետա անելու սպառնալիքներով։ Բայց երեկ նա անգամ հիստերիկանալու ուժ չուներ, որովհետև նույնիսկ Շիրակի գյուղերից Գյումրիի հրապարակ «բերման ենթարկված» մարդիկ, քաղաքացիական հագուստով ոստիկաններն ու նրա հետ մարզեր տարվող 650 հոգանոց աջակիցների խումբը (այդքան մարդ է Նիկոլն ամեն օր իրենց հետ տանում մարզեր) չփրկեց իրավիճակը։

Երեկ Գյումրին թիկունքով շրջվեց և նկատելու չտվեց վիժվածքին։

Երեկ նրան միայն մեկ բան հաջողվեց՝ Շիրակի մարզում չհանդիպել գերեվարված շիրակցիների հարազատներին։

Շատ հանգիստ, առանց խղճի խայթի ուղղակի արհամարհեց այդ մարդկանց։ Մարզ, որտեղից գերիների առնվազն մեկ երրորդն է։ Ընտանիքներ, որոնք ամեն օր աղոթում են իրենց երեխաների համար։ Իսկ երեկ ոչ նրանք կային, ոչ այդ թեման։ Նիկոլին հաջողվեց գնալ գերիների ծննդավայր, կապիկություն անել, անտեսել նրանց, արհամարհել ընտանիքներին և առհասարակ այդ թեման ու հեռանալ։

Այ դա վիժվածքին հաջողվեց։
