Մինչ որոշ մարդիկ տուն են դառնում նեոնային լույսերով լուսավորված փողոցներով կամ պատրաստվում գիշերային ակումբներ այցելել, ընթերցասերների մի հոծ խումբ հավաքվում է Թայբեյի կենտրոնում գտնվող «Eslite» գրախանութում։ Այս գրախանութն աշխատում է շուրջօրյա գրաֆիկով։ Այստեղ գիշերներն ավելի շատ այցելուներ են  լինում, քան բազմաթիվ այլ երկրների գրախանութներում ցերեկային ժամերին։ Փոքրիկ աստիճաններին կամ գրասեղանների շուրջ ահել ու ջահել կողք կողքի ընկղմվում են գրականության զարմանահրաշ աշխարհում։ Տիրում է քար լռություն, որը ժամանակ առ ժամանակ միայն դասական երաժշտության ելևէջներով է ընդհատվում։ Գրախանութի այցելուներից մեկը՝ ուսուցչուհի Վոն Հսուանգ Չենգը, ասում է, որ Թայբեյ քաղաքի բնակիչները գիշերային ակտիվ կյանքով են ապրում։ Customers at Eslites bookstore on Dunhua Road, Taipei read books in the early hours. «Eslite Group» ընկերության առաջին գրախանութն իր առաջին մասնաճյուղը հիմնեց Թայբեյում 1989 թ.-ին։ Այդ ժամանակից ի վեր գրախանութային բիզնեսն ընդլայնվել է, և այժմ ընկերությունը 42 գրախանութ ունի Թայվանում։ Մինչ ԱՄՆ-ում, Մեծ Բրիտանիայում ու աշխարհի մի շարք այլ երկրներում գրախանութները հայտնվել են ճգնաժամային իրավիճակում այնպիսի օնլայն մրցակիցների պատճառով, ինչպիսին է օրինակ «Amazon»-ը, Թայվանում գրախանութների բիզնեսը ծաղկունք է ապրում։ «Eslite»-ը օնլայն մրցակիցների հետ պայքարելու յուրօրինակ եղանակ է գտել։ Այն իր գրախանութները համալրել է ընթերցասրահներով, սրճարաններով, ճաշարաններով ու խանութներով։ 2013 թ.-ին «Eslite Group»-ի եկամուտը կազմում էր 425 միլիոն դոլար, սակայն գրքերի վաճառքից ստացված եկամուտն ընդհանուր հասույթի ընդամենը 40 տոկոսն էր կազմում։ Գրականության ու նրբաճաշակ դիզայնի համադրության շնորհիվ այս գրախանութները դարձել են հիփսթերների ու ընթերցասերների ամենասիրելի ժամանցի վայրը։ Ինչպես գրախանութի մշտական այցելուներից մեկն է ասում, սա ոչ թե սոսկ գրախանութ է, այլ մշակութային կենտրոն։ Ոմանք այստեղ գալիս են գիրք կարդալու, այլոք՝ ընկերների հետ հանդիպելու կամ նոր ծանոթություններ հաստատելու։ «Eslite»-ը հայտնի է նաև զբոսաշրջիկների շրջանում։ Գրախանութի առանձնահատկություններից մեկն այն է, որ այստեղ կարելի է անվճար ընթերցել վաճառքի հանված գրքերը։ Ընդ որում, Թայբեյի հինգհարկանի գրախանութի միայն վերջին հարկն է, որ բացառապես գրքերի վաճառքով է զբաղվում, մյուս հարկերում կարելի է տեսնել, թե ինչպես են գրքերն այլ ապրանքների հետ կողք կողքի դրված վաճառվում։
