ՀՅԴ-ն միշտ իր ուրույն դերն է ունեցել հայ ժողովրդի կյանքում՝ թե՛ Հայաստանի Հանրապետությունում, թե՛ Արցախի Հանրապետությունում, թե՛ Սփյուռքում։
Ժողովրդի համար ամենաբարդ ու ճգնաժամային փուլերում ՀՅԴ-ն եղել է միավորման, ազգային ու պետական գաղափարների համար պայքարի առաջամարտիկն ու խորհրդանիշը։ Զարգացման ու ծաղկման փուլերում եղել է առաջընթացին նպաստողն ու աջակցողը, ողջ աշխարհում իր ռեսուրսներն ի շահ հայ ժողովրդի ծառայեցնողը։
131 տարիների ընթացքում նորանոր սերունդեր են մեծացել դաշնակցական գաղափարներով՝ մեր ավանդույթներին, մեր մշակույթին, մեր պատմությանը, մեր անցյալին, ներկային ու ապագային նվիրումով։
 
Եվ այսօր էլ՝ Հայաստանի ու Արցախի համար այս դժվարագույն փուլում, ՀՅԴ խաղում ու խաղալու է իր հատուկ, շատ կարևոր դերը ներքին ու արտաքին թշնամիների դեմ պայքարում։
