Էբոլա վիրուսը Արևմտյան Աֆրիկայում արդեն խլել է 1,000 մարդու կյանք: Չնայած նրան, որ Էբոլա վիրուսն այս պահի դրությամբ շատ լայն ծավալված համաճարակ չէ, ամեն դեպքում այն անբուժելի է: Իրականում, կան շատ ավելի վտանգավոր հիվանդություններ քան Էբոլան է, գրում է Huffington Post-ը:
Կատաղախտ կամ կատաղություն (Rabies)
Կենդանիների և մարդկանց սուր վարակիչ հիվանդություն է, արտահայտվում է հիմնականում կենտրոնական նյարդային համակարգի ախտահարմամբ, ուղեկցվում շարժիչ կենտրոնների սուր գրգռվածությամբ, շնչառական խնդիրներով ու մկանների ջղաձգումներով, անդամալուծությամբ և վերջանում մահով։ Բնական պայմաններում կատաղությունով հիվանդանում են կաթնասունները, առավելապես՝ շնազգիները, իսկ գյուղատնտեսական կենդանիներից՝ խոշոր եղջերավորները (55%)։ Հիվանդությունը փոխանցվում է հիմնականում կծելու միջոցով։
ՄԻԱՎ (մարդու իմունային անբավարարության վիրուս)
Այն ախտահարում է մարդու օրգանիզմի տարբեր բջիջները և հատկապես՝ իմունային համակարգի բջիջները։ Հիվանդները կարող են միջինում 7-15 տարի առողջության հետ կապված որևէ խնդիր չունենալ, սակայն այդ ընթացքում նրանք շարունակում են վարակի աղբյուր հանդիսանալ։ ՁԻԱՀ-ը ՄԻԱՎ վարակի վերջնային փուլն է։ Վարակը փոխանցվում է սեռական հարաբերությունների ժամանակ, ներերակային սրսկումների, մոր կաթի միջոցով, և այլն: Ամբողջ աշխարհում 2012թ. տվյալներով 1,6 մլն մարդ է մահացել:
Գրիպ
Վերին շնչառական ուղիների սուր վարակիչ հիվանդություն է: Ամեն տարի գրիպից մահանում են միջինը 250-500.000 մարդ, շատ դեպքերում այն կարող է հասնել մինչև մեկ միլիոնի: Շատ հաճախ գրիպ են անվանում յուրաքանչյուր շնչառական հիվանդություն կամ հարբուխ, որը սխալ է: Մահացու գրիպերի շարքին են դասվում՝ խոզի, թռչնի, Հոնկոնգի, Ասիական, Իսպանական և շատ այլ գրիպերը: Ամենաշատը աշխարհին անհանգստացրել է խոզի գրիպը 2009-2010 թթ.ին:
Մոծակների միջոցով տարածվող հիվանդություններ
Արևմտյան Նեղոսի վիրուսը, արևադարձային տենդը, մալարիան և դեղին տենդը փոխանցվում են մոծակներով և մահացու են: Տարեկան միջինը 50,000 մարդ է մահանում մոծակներով փոխանցվող հիվանդություններից:
