Մարտի 5-ին Հայաստանի ազգային հերոս, Արցախի հերոս, սպարապետ Վազգեն Սարգսյանի, ԼՂՀ ինքնապաշտպանական ուժերի նախկին գլխավոր հրամանատար, գեներալ-լեյտենանտ, Արցախի հերոս Սամվել Բաբայանի, Արցախյան ազատամարտի մասնակից, Արցախի հերոս, ԱՀ Անվտանգության խորհրդի քարտուղար Վիտալի Բալասանյանի ծննդյան օրն է: 

Վազգեն Սարգսյանը ծնվել է 1959 թվականին, Արարատի շրջանի Արարատ գյուղում։ Արցախյան Շարժման առաջին իսկ օրերից նա ազատամարտիկների շարքերում էր` իբրև արցախյան ազատագրական պայքարի առաջին կազմակերպիչներից մեկը։

1990-91թթ. իր հրամանատարության ներքո միավորել է Երկրապահ կամավորական ջոկատները, եղել է ՀԽՍՀ գերագույն խորհրդի պատգամավոր, պաշտպանության և ներքին գործերի մշտական հանձնաժողովի նախագահ։ Նա խոշոր ավանդ է ունեցել հայրենի հողն ու սահմանները թշնամու ոտնձգություններից զերծ պահելու, մարտի դաշտում մեր ժողովրդի քաջարի զավակների հաղթանակն ապահովելու գործում։

Անգնահատելի են Վազգեն Սարգսյանի ծառայությունները հայոց բանակի կազմավորման և կայացման գործընթացներում: Նա հսկայական ներդրում ունի Հայաստանի ու Արցախի պաշտպանության և անվտանգության ապահովման գործում։ Պետական ականավոր գործիչ, պաշտպանության նախարար, վարչապետ Վազգեն Սարգսյանը մեծ դերակատարություն ուներ ՀՀ պետականության հզորացման, երկրի զարգացման ասպարեզում։

Սամվել Բաբայանը ծնվել է 1965-ին՝ Ստեփանակերտում: 1988-ից մասնակցել է Արցախյան շարժմանը: 1989-91թթ. եղել է Ստեփանակերտի 2-րդ կամավորական ջոկատի հրամանատար, կենտրոնական շտաբի անդամ, ԼՂՀ ինքնապաշտպանության ջոկատների հրամանատարի տեղակալ:

1991թ. հունիսին՝ «Կոլցո» գործողության ժամանակ, ձերբակալվել է ԽՍՀՄ ՆԳՆ զորքերի կողմից և ավելի քան 6 ամիս պահվել է Շուշիի և Բաքվի բանտերում:

1992-94թթ. համակարգել է ԼՂՀ պաշտպանական շրջանների մարտական գործողությունները, մասնակցել Շուշիի ազատագրման պլանի մշակմանը, եղել է ուղղության հրամանատար: 1997-ից Արցախի Հերոս է և ԼՂՀ բարձրագույն՝ «Ոսկե Արծիվ» շքանշանակիր:

Վիտալի Բալասանյանը ծնվել է 1959-ին, Ասկերան քաղաքում:

1988-ին Բալասանյանին իր համակիրների հետ հաջողվել է հետ մղել դեպի Ստեփանակերտ շարժվող ադրբեջանցիների բազմահազարանոց ամբոխն ու կանխել արյունահեղությունը: 1992թ. հունվարից Վիտալի Բալասանյանը մասնակցել է Ասկերանի, Աղդամի, Մարտակերտի շրջանների բնակավայրերի, Ամարասի հովտի, Քաշաթաղի ինքնապաշտպանական և ազատագրական մարտերին:

1989-91թթ. եղել է կամավորական ջոկատի, ապա` գումարտակի, 1992-96թ.` Ասկերանի պաշտպանական շրջանի, 1996-98թ.` ԼՂՀ ՊԲ միավորման հրամանատար, 1998-99թ.` ԼՂՀ ՊԲ հրամանատարի տեղակալ, 1999-2005թ.` ԼՂՀ պաշտպանության նախարարի տեղակալ, 2005-2006թ.` Արցախի պատերազմի վետերանների միության նախագահ:

Վիտալի Բալասանյանը պարգևատրվել է ԼՂՀ «Մարտական Խաչ» 1-ին և ՀՀ «Մարտական Խաչ» 2-րդ աստիճանի և ԼՂՀ բարձրագույն «Ոսկե արծիվ» շքանշաններով:
