Արցախյան 44-օրյա պատերազմը և դրան հաջորդած իրադարձությունները լրջորեն խաթարել են Հայաստանի էներգետիկ անվտանգությունը։ Բանն այն է, որ Հայաստանում էներգիայի զգալի մասը արտադրվում է Հայաստանի ատոմային էլեկտրակայանի, ինչպես նաև ջերմաէլեկտրակայանների և հիդրոէլեկտրակայանների միջոցով։ Ատոմակայանի շահագործման ժամկետը հավերժ չէ, մի քանի տարի անց Հայաստանը կրկին բախվելու է ատոմակայանը փակելու և կոնսերվացնելու պահանջի առջև, որքան էլ լուրջ գումարներ ծախսվեն ատոմակայանի կյանքը երկարացնելու համար։
 
Ջերմաէլեկտրակայանների արտադրած էներգիան բավականին թանկ է, քանի որ Հայաստանը այդ էներգիայի արտադրության համար անհրաժեշտ գազը հիմնականում ներկրում է Ռուսաստանից և մի փոքր մասը` Իրանից։ Հայաստանի էներգետիկ անվտանգության առումով լուրջ նշանակություն ունեին հիդրոէլեկտրակայանները, սակայն դրանց մի զգալի մասը գտնվում էր Արցախի տարածքներում, և պատերազմի հետևանքով անցել են Ադրբեջանի տիրապետության տակ, ավերվել են, պիտանի չեն շահագործման և կորսվել են։
 
Հայաստանում կա մի ռեսուրս, որը անսպառ է և կարող է լրջորեն նպաստել էներգետիկ անվտանգության ապահովմանը։ Խոսքը արևային վերականգնող էներգետիկայի մասին է, որը վերջին տվյալներով կազմում է էլեկտրաէներգիայի արտադրության ընդամենը 2 տոկոսը, թեև աճելու մեծ ներուժ ունի։ Տրամաբանական կլիներ, որ պատերազմից հետո գործող իշխանությունները զարկ տային արևային էներգիայի արտադրությանը, միջոցներ ստեղծեին, նույնիսկ պետական ֆինանսավորման կամ արտերկրից ներկրած միջոցների շնորհիվ, Հայաստանում արևային էներգիա արտադրող կայանների քանակը շեշտակի ավելացնելու համար։ Ընդ որում ոչ միայն Հայաստանում, այլ նաև Արցախում, նման արևային պանելների տեղադրումը կարող է լրջորեն նպաստել էներգետիկ, նաև քաղաքական անվտանգությանը, ապահովել Արցախի ու Հայաստանի բնակչությանը էներգիայի մի մասով, իսկ ավելի լուրջ ներդրումների դեպքում, նաև հեռանկարում լիովին անցնել արևային էներգիայի օգտագործմանը։
 
Հայաստանում սակավ ընկերություններ են զբաղված արևային էներգիայի արտադրությամբ, իսկ պանելների միակ արտադրողը՝ «ՍՈԼԱՐՈՆ» ընկերությունն է, որի արտադրած արևային պանելները մեծ քանակությամբ արտահանվում են արտերկիր և չափազանց մեծ հեղինակություն ունեն միջազգային շուկայում։ Ժամանակն է, որ այդ պոտենցիալը օգտագործի նաև Հայաստանի բնակչությունը` անցնելով անվճար էլեկտրոսնուցման։
