Միացյալ Նահանգները կտրուկ ակտիվացրել է իր գործունեությունը Հարավային Կովկասում, ցանկանում է հայ-ադրբեջանական հանդիպում կազմակերպել, հնարավորության դեպքում խաղաղության պայմանագիր կամ ինչ-որ փաստաթուղթ ստորագրել տալ։ ԱՄՆ Պետդեպի խոսնակ Մեթյու Միլլերը ճեպազրույցում հայտարարել է, թե Վաշինգտոնը միշտ էլ առիթներ է փնտրում Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի արտգործնախարարների հանդիպման համար։ Միլլերը շեշտել է, որ Վաշինգտոնը շարունակում է աջակցել Երևանի և Բաքվի ջանքերին՝ կայուն և արժանապատիվ խաղաղության համաձայնագրի հասնելու համար։

«Նրանք զգալի առաջընթաց են գրանցել խաղաղության համաձայնագրի վերջնական ձևակերպման ուղղությամբ, և մենք պարտավորվում ենք ամեն կերպ աջակցել կողմերին, այդ թվում՝ հանդիպում հրավիրել, եթե դա օգտակար է»,-ասել է Միլլերը։

Պետդեպի խոսնակի հայտարարությունը հաջորդում է պետքարտուղար Էնթոնի Բլինքենի՝ Իլհամ Ալիևին կատարած զանգին։ Բլինքենը, ըստ պաշտոնական հաղորդագրության, ընդգծել է Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև կայուն և արժանապատիվ խաղաղության հասնելու կարևորությունը, ողջունել է կողմերի միջև վերջին առաջընթացը, ներառյալ՝ սահմանազատման հանձնաժողովների համատեղ գործունեության կանոնակարգի ստորագրումը։ Իլհամ Ալիևն, իր հերթին է դրական որակել դա՝ հավելելով, որ սահմանազատման գործընթացն իրականացվելու է կանոնակարգի հիման վրա։

Օրեր առաջ էլ Բլինքենը հեռախոսազրույց էր ունեցել Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի հետ։

Ադրբեջանը, սակայն, մտադիր չէ որևէ փաստաթուղթ ստորագրել։ Ալիևը հեռախոսազրույցում կրկին պնդել է ՀՀ Սահմանադրությունը փոփոխելու անհրաժեշտությունը։ Տպավորություն է, որ Բաքուն ամեն ջանք գործադրում է ԿՕՊ29 գագաթնաժողովը «հորով-մորով» անելու, որից հետո այլևս խաղաղասիրական հայտարարությունների կարիքը չի լինելու։ Իսկ Արևմուտքը, կարծես, բնավ ցանկություն չունի զսպելու Ադրբեջանին, փոխարենը «բուռն գործունեության իմիտացիայով» է զբաղված։
