ԱՄՆ նախկին նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը չորեքշաբթի Ուկրաինան նկարագրել է մռայլ եւ տխուր արտահայտություններով՝ նրա ժողովրդին անվանելով «մեռած», իսկ երկիրը՝ «քայքայված», տեղեկացրել է Associated Press-ը։ Թրամփը հավաստիացրել է, որ Ուկրաինան պետք է զիջումների գնար Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինին 2022թ. փետրվարին Ռուսաստանի հարձակումից մի քանի ամիս առաջ՝ հայտնելով, որ ամենավատ գործարքը ավելի լավ կլիներ, քան այն, ինչ ունենք հիմա»։

Թրամփն Ուկրաինան նկարագրել է որպես երկիր, «որն ավերակների մեջ է իր մայրաքաղաքի՝ Կիեւի սահմաններից դուրս, ունի զինվորների պակաս եւ բնակչություն է կորցնում պատերազմում մահերի պատճառով եւ հարեւան երկրներում։ Նա հետաքրքրվել է, թե արդյոք Ուկրաինան ունի որեւէ հաղթաթուղթ պատերազմը դադարեցնելու բանակցությունների համար։

«Ցանկացած գործարք, ամենավատ գործարքը, ավելի լավ կլիներ, քան այն, ինչ ունենք այժմ,- ասել է Թրամփը Հյուսիսային Կարոլինայի միջոցառման ժամանակ։- Եթե նրանք վատ գործարք կնքեին, շատ ավելի լավ կլիներ։ Նրանք մի փոքր կհանձնվեին, եւ բոլորը ողջ կլինեին, եւ ամեն մի շենք կկառուցվեր, եւ ամեն մի աշտարակ կծերանար եւս 2000 տարի։ Ի՞նչ գործարք մենք կարող ենք կնքել։ Քայքայվել է։ Մարդիկ մահացել են։ Երկիրն ավերակների մեջ է»։
