Европейский суд по правам человека потребовал от Азербайджана предоставить доклад о содержании под стражей и условиях здоровья 23 армянских заключенных в бакинских тюрьмах, установив срок до 4 ноября.

Сирануш Саакян, представитель интересов армянских заключенных в Европейском суде, сообщила радиостанции «Свобода», что еще в июле азербайджанская сторона обратилась в суд с ходатайством о снятии с себя обязательства по представлению доклада. Однако после возражений правительства Армении и представителей заключенных в ЕСПЧ суд в конечном итоге отклонил ходатайство Азербайджана и обязал Баку предоставить информацию об армянских заключенных.

Армянские заключенные в бакинских тюрьмах находятся в полной изоляции уже около трех месяцев; ни одна независимая международная организация их не посещала. Информация об их содержании под стражей, состоянии здоровья или психологическом состоянии отсутствует.

Представители Международного Комитета Красного Креста последний раз посещали армянских заключенных в июне. Эта международная организация по требованию властей Азербайджана окончательно приостановила свою деятельность в стране.
