Հոկտեմբերի 4-ին Ծաղկաձորում կայացած «Հայաստանի հանքարդյունաբերությունը» («Mining Armenia Forum 2025») համաժողովի ժամանակ հայտարարվել է հանքարդյունաբերության ոլորտում կենսաբազմազանության պահպանման ծրագրերի համար Ջոն Հոբսի անվան մրցանակի ներդրման մասին։

Զանգեզուրի պղնձամոլիբդենային կոմբինատի (ԶՊՄԿ) կայուն զարգացման գծով փոխտնօրեն Աննա Սաղաբալյանը բացատրել է, որ Հոբսը Հայաստանի իսկական բարեկամն էր և կենսաբազմազանության զարգացման ու պահպանման միջազգային ճանաչում ունեցող փորձագետ։

«Նա խորապես հավատում էր պատասխանատու և կայուն հանքարդյունաբերության հեռանկարներին և իր եզակի փորձն ու գիտելիքները որպես իսկական բնապահպան ներդնում էր իր բոլոր նախագծերում: Նա այն բնապահպաններից էր, ովքեր, խորապես սիրելով բնությունը, նաև հավատում էին, որ շրջակա միջավայրի պաշտպանությունը կարելի է իրականացնել միայն արդյունաբերության հետ համագործակցելով, քանի որ դա անհնար էր անել մեկուսացված կերպով: Ջոնը ութ տարի ղեկավարել է WWF-ի համաշխարհային նավթի, գազի և հանքարդյունաբերության ոլորտը և նաև ղեկավար պաշտոններ է զբաղեցրել Չինաստանում, Մոնղոլիայում, Մյանմայում, Վիետնամում, Հնդկաստանում և Կամբոջայում բազմաթիվ ազդեցիկ բնապահպանական նախագծերում», - նշել է Սաղաբալյանը:

Նրա խոսքով՝ 2016-ից 2018 թվականներին նա կամավոր կերպով զբաղվել է բնապահպանական գործունեությամբ՝ որպես Ամուլսարի անկախ նախագծի կայուն զարգացման խորհրդի անդամ։
